Event was written by Boogie, so answers will have to wait until she is back from some well deserved slooops.

Q1. Suppose you don't have the Engineering skill, but you do have an advantage giving you a phantom rank in Engineering with the Fleshcrafting emphasis.

When you make an Engineering roll that doesn't require any emphasis, do you have a phantom rank, or are you unskilled?

Q2. The drone is described as having 0 Void, but the event still describes calling raises on the drone's rolls. How many raises are allowed? (Normally this is limited by Void.)

Q3. I assume it still needs the skill to be able to call raises?

No way to raise on the initial Engineering/Agility or Craft: Robotics/Agility roll have to get more skills/traits?

For the robotics event, since magic is fully allowed, if we want to use reversal of fortunes, do we cast it on ourselves once for all the building rolls, or once before each building roll? Can we use it on the drone?

Following on the Void part, I'm assuming we can't Void the Droid's rolls.

You can actually:

Overclocking and Overloading
For the competition, drones may call as many raises as they wish as they are pushed to the limits of their abilities. However, at any time a drone has called more than two raise in a single roll and failed, the drone's system overloads and forces a shutdown. The drone my not participate for the rest of the competition.

No limit but with the penalty than calling 3+ raises and failing means the end of competition, count your points and go home.

Void for skill or +1k1 would be out of the question, though, as no actual Void.

I do want to second the call to see whether our Void can be used on any of the rally rolls. If not, that definitely changes my thinking on how to build.

Q1. As ruled today, Crafty will not grant the relevant Engineering skill for this event.
Q2. That's right 0 void but you can call all the raises as detailed in the event.
Q3. Relevant skills are still required, however. Dice also do not explode without the skill involved.

No, there is no, other than extra loving care.

(Extra loving care does not grant any mechanical bonuses)

Sorry, should have clarified. Magic is allowed when building the drone. Magic is not allowed when running the drone.

I will rule that any spell that can't last longer than an hour will need to be recast.

You cannot void a droid's rolls. The Void stat cannot be given to drones.

Another oversight on my part in writing the event.

-You cannot use your own void, as it is assumed the drone is given the program to run the length of the event. You aren't really piloting it yourself.
-As above, your school skills and personal bonuses will have no additions to the drone.

Also...

Important Message

Please-please mention what UPGRADE your drone has on the first roll of the event. The next person who fails to do this will not have any upgrades.

For purposes of Strength In Terror, and as some Craft/Artisan skills are sub-noted as Low/High, is Craft:Robotics considered a High Skill?

Is the Programming Emphasis considered a High Skill?

Just so I'm crystal clear on this, I could cast Reversal of Fortunes on myself for each building roll though?

I believe that both Craft and Computer Use (which Programming falls under) skills are Merchant skills, if that answers your question.

Yes, you can cast on yourself for each building roll but would require one for each roll. The spell only lasts for 3 rounds after all.

Ah yes, I meant using my Void for the drone. Glad that's settled.

Can I recast Reversal of Fortunes if I failed it for the same Upgrade roll?

Can I have Servant Kyko do her own series of rolls as if she was a competitor?

Not for courtship points or anything, just for the lulz of having her fare way better than her mistress.

Mmm, I'm going to say that you can only cast once per Upgrade roll as competitors are only given a small amount before they roll out their drones.

I'll allow it! I would probably put it under your existing entry, probably under some quotes brackets to be extra clear.

What kind of drone we should be thinking of, visualizing-wise? A flyer?

Author:  Boogiepop [ Sat Sep 19, 2020 4:54 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: D7 Q&A

I shall leave it to your interpretation but the idea is that it should be a drone with capability to travel and return from long distances with a camera, potentially with arms as well. Of course, people have been creative and that's fine too.

Ultimately, it shouldn't be bigger than a stove either.

if we keep the drone can we continue to customize it? would the rules for doing so be the same as the event rules?

You could, but outside of the event, the upgrade time/tax might significantly increase. However, you can look into getting marginal upgrades, find a new chassis frame and delve deeper into the local drone hobbyist scene!
