Temple of Fukurokujin is rather new having been consecrated as recently as 3118. Situated the busy commercial district, the temple has been built from basalt exhumed from the cliffs surrounding the Murkwater bay. Large screens lining the outer walls of the temple have been programmed to display religious texts as well as excerpts from various scrolls detailing the life of Asako. The doors to the temple are never closed and the building is well lit throughout the night to remind the faithful of the enlightenment the Tao offers. The main alter of the shrine has a ten foot tall golden statue of Fukurokujin flanked by smaller, but equally impressive statues of Asako and Agashiko. Large, wooden coin boxes have been set by the altar to allow the devout to deposit their offerings. At all times, four monks bearing shakujo staves guard the temple, with two standing by the torii and two within the temple proper. The famous underground library attached to the shrine contains nearly twenty thousand texts. Hundreds of meters of shelves, brimming with books and scrolls line the narrow tunnels running beneath the temple. Underground, beyond the doors warded with hermetic seals, the air is dry and dusty. Dim lights, meant to protect the slowly decaying paper and parchment, provide enough light to prevent anyone getting lost. However, the same dim lights also make it nearly impossible for anyone to find anything without a conelantern. The library is composed of dozens of private collections, donated for the temple by the local nobility. The initiates of the temple, who also serve as librarians, have been cataloging the donate items for the past four years. Despite their efforts, more than half of the texts within the library the remain to be classified. Location rules: Character may spend a timeslot to at the library to seek for information by rolling Investigation / Intelligence at TN 20. The rarer books and treatises are harder to locate and Raise(s) need to be called to find them. In order to do so, post the rolls and specify the topic in your private forum and link that post to the thread here. |
