The governor was an odd bird indeed. Tsugiharu imagined a question and answer session that would never be allowed: Governor: So first you'll cover a large distance in a short amount of time.. Tsugiharu: Most of us have Otori, and those of us who don't can rent cars, can we do that? Governor: No, then you'll need to shoot three targets.... Tsugiharu: Can I just obliterate the targets with magic? It never misses after all, and the Phoenix revere magic Governor: No, and you've got to climb over these stalks that if you fall off of could be deadly. Tsugiharu: Oh, I have magic that allows me to sink into the earth and just walk along beneath. Can I use that? Governor: No. Any questions? Tsugiharu: So, if I run really fast, and shoot really well, and climb like a goat, what do I get again? Governor: A chance to swear loyalty to the Phoenix by joining our scouting group that goes into the REAL wilderness. Anything else? Tsugiharu: Do you validate parking? So instead of going on the dangerous dangerous quest of no reward, Tsuigharu retreated to the cool stacks of the library. His presence there hopefully wouldn't offend the locals too badly, and it seemed a much more pleasant way to spend the morning. |
