Seeing both beasts were closing in on them Satoru called on the earth kami to slow them weighing them down to make their attacks easier to dodge hopefully.

Akagi's shot struck the underbelly of the reaver, much to its surprise, and succeeded in coaxing its full wrath. Even as if felt itself getting staggered by an onset of weakness in its limbs, it swings its claws back at took a strike at the Bayushi.

Ultimately, its claws only went over Akagi's head and didn't even touch a hair on his head! It also managed to avoid the aura of fire at the same time.

The other reaver, seemingly had the wind taken out from its proverbial sails, almost moving at a brisk jog rather than its furious pace. However, it still managed to close the gap from its intended new prey, close enough to butt against Shoan despite her best efforts.

Reaver 2 is now engaged to Shoan.

Jin aimed and shot towards the reaver trying to chew on Shoan, considering Akagi was both dodging well and on (friendly) fire, but in his caution not to hit the Lioness, his shot went wide.

Confronted by the full horror of the reaver, Shoan took a step back to get some distance away. She raised her sidearm and aimed down sights before firing.

The reaver let out something like a whimper when it was struck at its underbelly, feeling faint.

The boy hesitated, should he run or stay? Knowing better, he remained in his hiding spot and not get in the way of the samurai adults.

Akagi stepped back as the reaver flailed at him, making sure to keep himself interposed between the lizard and the shugenja. He squeezed off another shot with deadly accuracy; but the amount of damage the reavers could soak seemed incredible.

Satoru saw Shoan scoring some deadly hits and followed up the lion samurai's shot with a prayer to the earth kami as pieces of metal rained down on the beast

The weakened reaver on death's door was unprepared for the large amounts of metal shards that rained down from the sky. What was this madness, was it a meteorite from space? However, it couldn't really further question it as it flopped down with several pieces imbedded into its skull.

The other reaver roared and was still very intent on taking a piece off of the burning hot samurai. Unfortunately, its claw hit nothing by the air around him.

Reaver 1 is engaged with Bayushi Akagi again.

With the reaver making its way around to attack Akagi, it exposed a good portion of its flank, despite being engaged to the Scorpion. He took the shot but unfortunately the beam was a hair's way from grazing the reaver.

Shoan stepped back from the path of the fallen reaver and directed her attention to the one still standing. With her gun trained on the reaver taking up most of the foreground against Akagi, her radiant sidearm struck the giant lizard. It wasn't her intention but the beam went straight into the lizard's eye.

The reaver reeled away after the shot into its skull and it let out a groan before falling to its side. Its body lands on the ground with an audible thud in the clearing. It will leave this world without knowing the taste of Scorpion bushi.

And thus, both blood-thirsty reavers have been dispatched without harming any of the brave samurai. The greater question is, will they know that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer?

/Combat Over

The Bayushi kept his sidearm trained on the fallen reaver as he prodded it gently with the toe of his boot. Finally satisfied, Akagi holstered his sidearm.

“Whew! That was a close one,” Akagi said, swaying a little as the adrenaline of the combat high faded.

Satoru nodded "Well it could have gone much worse glad no one was hurt." he began making his way toward the child "Come along little one, its safe now."

Shoan calmly ejects her nearly spent magazine and slots in a second, her eyes eyes on the brush around them

"Agreed, that was nicely done Minna-san."
Eyeing the reaver corpses
"Clearly there are some advantages to having guns."

The child slowly emerged from his hiding spot, a large chunk of his jumpsuit sleeve was torn. There are scratches to his face and hands but they will otherwise heal easily on their own. He wiped his eyes with the back of his hand, still damp from crying earlier. His walk was slow, almost like he was scared that something else would appear out of nowhere but eventually he meandered over. He was relieved but he couldn't quite shake the fact that he was going to be in trouble.

"Hey there, little man," Akagi said in a gentle voice, pretending not to notice the tears. "Nice job, keeping these reavers busy long enough for reinforcements to arrive. Your parents will be proud."

Shoan simply acts as though everything was normal as she steps over a dead dinosaur

“That is Bayushi Akagi-san.” One of the mysterious roommates!
“I am Murame Shoan, the shugenja who brought the spirits to our aid is Kuchiki Satoru-san. And Ujina Jin - sama is the hare.”
As if that explained everything.

“I believe everything will be fine now.”

The boy looked at the Scorpion, Lion, Hare and Scorpion...not a Phoenix among them. He wasn't scared but clearly nervous. At the very least, he minded his manner enough to give a bow, showing thanks and asking for forgiveness at the same time.

"Taku..." he murmured timidly. "Just mom now...my pop's gone..."



As the samurai tried to comfort the boy, it was only time that the local Phoenix caught up to the distress. Some Phoenix in the area hopped on their ATV and rode toward the clearing. The first to appear was a heavy-set middle-aged man wearing archaic spectacles. He gave each of the samurai a cautious glance before stepping of his vehicle.

"Samurai-san, you have my thanks...Asako Kishi, chief engineer," he greeted them with a curt bow.

Seeing a familiar Phoenix, the boy hovered closer to Kishi.

"My name is Bayushi Akagi," the Scorpion said, bowing respectfully to the chief engineer. "I'm glad we were able to be of assistance. Fortunately, Taku here was very brave and kept from getting eaten before we got here."

After introducing herself “No thanks are necessary Asako-sama. No guest should sit by if their host is in need. And it was Simple matter.”
