My two cents on some of the original rules I've experimented firsthand:

Limb Fleshcraft: Seems like in a good place for me. Not broken by any mean (it does cost 4/5 points), but a good mix of advantages for its price (a +1k0 on a common roll and some really appreciated extra Reduction).

Hida Bushi

Current changes from RAW: Heavy Weapons (Tetsubo) has been replaced with Firearms, the Rank 1 Technique grants a +1k0 damage bonus to all melee weapons instead of only heavy ones.

The quirks:
The accent is exclusively put on melee when the fluff seems to point at the Hida using mostly rifles nowadays, including the ferocious heavy ones (pragmatism ho!) except maybe for a few specialized contact units.
Third rank technique still explicitly references Heavy Weapons when it's not a school skill anymore.
One emphasis was lost in the conversion.

Proposed changes:
Add the Heavy Rifle emphasis to Firearms.
Reword the flat +1k0 to all melee damages of the rank 1 technique as: Your Strength is considered one rank higher for the purpose of carrying and using weapons (including melee damage rolls).
Simplify rank 3 by having it work with all melee and samurai weapons.

I think this would give a more consistent feeling to the whole thing: No more outdated references and a clear focus on using equipment better, both armory and weaponry.

Balance should remain more or less the same, as being able to attack with a jitte as a simple action is probably not a game changer, and, as mentioned elsewhere, heavy rifles are more of a curse than a blessing, as the no move + cooldown penalty is really huge in a drawn-out fight.

The web should start to break down, so that subsequent turns become easier to to break free.
But it would also be nice if there was a mechanic to call raises for some benefit, like added damage raises for lethal attacks.
