"I think a good officer listens, as there's no harm unless the situation requires swift action. After all, no one is going to question the move once the order is given", he said. "Though I can see I overstepped with you", he bobbed his head in apology. "Though singing? I'd heard there was some decent music at the karaoke lounge, that your doing, then?"

"Yes, but Daigotsu-san is in no position to lecture to me about what makes a good officer and what does not." Naokuni slammed his hand on the table. "Are all the Spider as insolent as you? No wonder the Throne lets you die like dogs." the old man growled. "Only only you walk into my office, but you also address me as if I was your equal. You filthy little spineless glow-worm." Rage gleamed in his eyes. "Yes, overstepped you did. Now, please leave, I have better things to do than to listen to your lousy yapping."

Shokomaru just bowed, then rose. Shame he knew the castle's grid coordinates but no artillery on hand.

He took his cup off the table, finished his tea with a long drink in silence, put his cup away, took a step back off the pillow, offered another bow, then spun on his heel for the door.

On his way out he thought about what happened. He couldn't feel wrong about any of that in the end. The governor's mood swing was obvious, and he wasn't there to blow sunshine up the old man's ass.

if there was anything, he should have simply left after getting permission for the hunt, taken the hit on etiquette, but skipped the whining tirade from the obtuse lunatic
