The sun was going to be up and doing it's sun thing that day. Shokomaru wasn't much of a fan. He had enough where he lived, and he honestly didn't miss that even when on some insane hellscape with red skies and black clouds churning above him.

Asakaze could suck a fat one.

Still, events hadn't really allowed him to close all the curtains properly last night, so when the sun peeked across the other buildings of the city and shown into his hotel room, it unfortunately woke him up. The bastard. He tried to roll over, but something strong and warm stopped him, gripping hard.

Oh, right. That's why he didn't have a stress kink in his neck anymore.

Without opening his eyes, he stroked the soft hair of the person with him, then turned his head away from the sun and tried to go back to sleep.

Akemi woke up slowly, the realization of her environment coming to her bit by bit.

The sun was high. She wondered through which miracle Kyoko had let her sleep that late.

The bed was large and comfortable. Nothing like the bunks of the inn.

Oh, and there was someone by her side.

"Morning." she muttered.

There was grumbling, and shifting, and then hands on her and he rolled them into a blanket burrito.

"5 more minutes."

She pinched his cheek lightly.

"Too late. I'm awake so I'm hungry. Got any snacks in this fancy room of yours?"

He didn't open his eyes, but he did smile and manage to get a hand free.

So he could point at himself.

Assuming the customary punishment came, he'd kiss her and then admit that...

"There's rice, a cooker and eggs."

After the expected (light) hit on his forehead, and maybe a makeup kiss, Akemi stretched herself half out of the blanket:

"Got anything that doesn't require... cooking? My servant usually does these things for me, and I'm definitely not calling her right now."

He cast the blanket completely away and sat up, glaring at the world beyond. Which was only the room and the window. The oddly cantered window.

Spiritual harmony.

It was tilting him a little, he had to admit.

"I don't require cooking, I'm ready to go right now", he said, half muttering, but she definitely heard him. Then he stood up and shut the curtains. "If you absolutely can't, I'll make you breakfast."

"I mean I could try..."

Cat grin:

"But not sure triggering the fire alarm when I'm naked in your room is the best of idea."

He turned around and walked to the kitchenette.

"It's triggered."

And it was. He opened the fridge and got the eggs, popped the cupboard and grabbed the small single rice servings the hotel leaves, and some packets of seasoning.

With a yawn he grabbed the single serving pan, turned on the stove and filled the ricer cooker.

"You can make coffee though, can't you?" he nodded over to the machine, which literally took one packet on an internal filter, with no mess or mistakes.

Not completely Akemi-proof, but as close as you can get.

Akemi shrugged, got out of bed, dragged herself toward the machine and put a pretty random quantity of coffee and water in it before putting the button.

"How long has it been since you've had egg rice anyway?" he asked as he tore open seasoning packets for the rice. Just a bit of salt and pepper, and not even too much of either. "We used to breakfast race at the dojo. The last one to finish had to do the dishes."

he was talking sense, but really he was a little engrossed with watching her make coffee.

"You know you have no chance of defeating me in a gluttony contest. And I would have used the excuse of my terrible manual dexterity..."

She bent in his direction and waved her fleshcraft playfully under his nose:

"... To not do the dishes either way."

He bit, he knew she could feel it, anyway.

The fleshcraft was a complex piece, with softer parts and all, but it was still metal at its core, so if Akemi did feel the pressure of the bite, pain, even light, was not a thing unless Shokomaru was willing to break his teeth for his effect.

Not that he didn't already know about that feature by now.

She removed her unmarked hand from his mouth and went to find something to put on:

"You wouldn't happen to have underwear in my size would you?"

"Yeah", he said. "It's all put in the dresser." He didn't seem off put, but he'd been enjoying the show and the A/C felt nice.

"Breakfast wil be ready in...", he squinted at the rice cooker. "Two minutes."

Then he walked to the bathroom, giving her rear a swat as he passed.

Akemi gave him a taste of his own medicine in response then helped herself to a pair of boxers and a shirt. She might have joked that they were too small for her but the reality of things was that the size difference wasn't nearly marked enough for that.

She used the break to do a short series of stretching exercises, especially focused on her left upper body.

"Kyoko is going to passively-aggressively complain about the readings of my arm. She does so each time I do movements I'm not supposed to yet do with it. But a girl gotta have her fun you know?"

He came out of the bathroom looking a little more human and shrugged at her.

"Hard to argue with that", he stopped and grabbed her by the rear pulling her close for a kiss.

The rice cooker beeped.

"Tsk..." he chuckled. "Pour the coffee and have a seat."

She did just that.

The coffee... Well it was coffee. It was black, hot and contained caffeine. Probably shouldn't ask more of it.

She put her lips in her own cup, pulled a face, and kept drinking it anyway.

"It'll do I guess. How's the food?"

He cracked eggs over the rice, two bowls. He came back from the counter and handed her one with some chopsticks.

"You'll see, the cooker isn't bad. If this place were just a bit on the tacky side they'd have vending machines in the rooms, at least."

He sat down across from her at the small table and mixed the egg in with the steaming rice.

"What's on your plate today?"

"Put in an appearance at the Phoenix event since Tetsu is apparently involved with it and it would look bad if he was the only Crab there. Hope that Nishida has untangled the mess with Eriko and suffer the consequences if not. Maybe try to squeeze in a talk with a prospective spouse. Kind of a normal day in the end. Less funeral than yesterday so that's a plus.
