He paused. He would hope that no one in the pairing would bring harm to their spouse. The thought disgusted him. "Important things, to be sure." He pondered what to say next.

"Anyone with intentions to harm you... would not be worthy of a partnership. They would hardly be samurai, and surely did not come here, Moshi-san."

"People change Daigotsu san, sometimes for the better... others for the worse. People wear many masks just to take advantage of a situation." She looked around. "This miai seems to be perfect for that. Breaking that mask is difficult."

He paused for a long moment. Idealism seemed to blind him a bit that some would mask themselves. "Does not seem like a good way to begin a match, Moshi-san."

His lips formed a hard line. "I hope that the masks do not come out here."

"Is it Daigotsu san? Wouldn't it be better to let lose and drop one's on and show the truth to the people." She sighed. "Under the standards of this miai I am substandard. I am not a good wife material but I know I will give my best effort to my goal." The girl explained.

"No, not necessarily drop On." His hands were clasped behind his back, regarding the Moshi. "But keeping up an open discourse. Really opening up with a potential. Should not every potential begin at that point? Lives shared till death. That is a long time to hold a mask." His lips pursed at her admittal.

"That is all we can do. Is strive for our best, to prove we have what it takes."

"Just... just... a manner of speaking. It... it... it just that not all may have good intentions... even though..." She shook her head. "It shouldn't matter right?"

"It should not." He shook his head. "But there is no reason it could not be in concert. How much better would service to ones Lord be if the partnership was worked on, improved over time. I am not speaking of Love, but it could happen. Or it could be a happy partnership with understandings, yet always working together." Ryuu shrugged, still watching the shugenja.

"Not a partnership, Daigotsu sama." She blinked a few times as he keeps watching her. "More like... like a friendship... sound better that way. It is more... anooo... softer."

"From what I have seen, and been told, is the softness comes over time. Has to be worked towards." His words were spoken in a softer tone, considering her statement. "Friendship is a much better place to start from."

"Friends is what I aspire to have." The Moshi nodded. "I don't need love I just need understanding."

Ryuu nodded. "Our clans are allied, Moshi-san." He regarded her, considering. "We could be friends."

"Yes...we can be friends Daigotsu sama. That would be nice." She smiled. "Do you have many friends Daigotsu sama?"

He said nothing for a long moment. Debating what the answer would be. What was the truth anyway.

"Not many. But gaining more here every day."

She nodded. "Same... not many people are my friends... Many get scared or just don't understand." Atena walked out the store after paying the items. "Do you like ice cream, Daigotsu san?"

He blinked slowly. "I do. Very much so, Moshi-san. Nothing overly sweet, but I am fond of it." His smile returned. "Are you suggesting we should get some?"

"Hai..." She nodded. "There is always vanilla... or sherbet... or maybe gellato..."

"The type does not matter." He shook his head, taking a few steps to approach the Moshi. "I believe I would enjoy it with you, no matter the variety."

The Moshi grew a bit pale. "Hai..." Perhaps the lack of sugar or his aura made her lose her color. "Please guide the way."
