Paradoxically, the Red Carp mall lies beyond the actual commercial district. The engineers who laid down the plans for the city never expected Shiro Yoake to grow as quickly as it did and so many of the businesses have had to build their outlets and stores west of the official commercial district. Technically part of first habitation district, this part of the town is commonly known as Red Carp mall due to the massive statues of carps decorating the entrance to the area.

Home to dozens of businesses, both small and large, the mall is busy from dawn to dusk regardless of the weather. In the evening as the shops and tea houses close, food vendors take to streets, selling fried otori and watered down sweet sake to the hungry masses. Asakaze is a border world and that shows in selections available. Most items are Phoenix made, local or otherwise. This means that anyone looking for trendy Crane or Scorpion fashions or cheap Mantis appliances will be inevitably disappointed.

Among many boutiques, department stores and street vendors the following can be found.

Silver Star
The finest department store in the city, the Silver Star caters to the needs of the local nobility. Selection of fashionable clothing, accessories and perfumes are available for everyone with enough coin.

Towa
Owned by the Agasha and ran by experienced traders, this gaudy boutique sells mass-produced accessories designed by local artists. If the store keep are to be believed, feather motifs are out out fashion while insect designs are 'in'.

Kashi-Wa
A cart with a charcoal grill ran by a man called Takeshi. Selling fried otori skewers and sweet sake just like everyone else, Takeshi is best known for his sauce. Each portion served is unceremoniously dunked into a large pot containing the special sour and spicy sauce.

Nezumi Renga-Renga
Also known as "The Nest". Nezumi Renga-Renga is a local emporium of renga and related merchandise. Over the years, it has accumulated several titles, mostly product excess and discontinued series. The old and obscure titles are also a bit more expensive, due to their scarcity.

Serenity Bakery
A local bakery that specializes in Dragon-style baked goods. There are an assortment of mochi, other rice cakes and bao, which are made daily. The rice flour is made on site, although done with a grinding machine. They sometime do demonstration the traditional-style of baking but only on a weekly basis and draw a crowd of shoppers.

Snap!
A store in the mall that is filled with old sticker-picture machines. Many of the machines are several decades old but are maintained to be in working order. For a few zeni, people can have their picture taken and printed into several low-quality stickers. There are a large variety of backdrops and gimmicks to choose from.

Tian Bubble Tea
Tian Bubble Tea is a well-known among the Unicorn Clan. The bubble tea chain serves an assortment of traditional bubble tea but also offers a variety of milk-based creations. For the adventurous, they have milk teas, cheese mousse, and cheese cakes.

Akaboshi Sports Center
Akaboshi Sports Center is a large facility built to host sumo tournaments and other martial bouts. Besides the small arena the sports center has a meager swimming pool and gym. The building is old and dire need of repair, showing perhaps where the priorities of the Phoenix lie. The sports center also has two oshidama courts with lines drawn on the ground to allow the visitors to play either normal oshidama or tag oshidama.

Daisuke's Drones
Ran by a middle-aged Agasha engineer and his small cadre of underlings, Daisu's Drones both repairs and sells used drones. Situated near the southern exit of the mall, Daisuke's is rather easy to find as several drones carrying colorful orange and yellow banners hover around the establishment. The two floors that make up Daisuke's Drones is jam-packed with all sorts of robotic appliances, ranging from simple cleaning automata to relatively modern holodrones.

Blue Bird Karaoke
The oldest and the most esteemed karaoke house in the city, the Blue Bird Karaoke is easy to recognize thanks to the two meter tall stylized neon otori that holds a microphone in one of its stubby wings. The establishment is divided into fifteen rooms each capable of housing six people. The karaoke equipment itself is dated and vast majority of the songs are Phoenix and Imperial classics, though a smattering of Unicorn and Crane music can also be found. Thanks to the governor, a Phoenix metal band 'Rhapsody' is well represented, with each of the karaoke devices having all of their songs.
