Hide has put it on herself to get the private room ready. It was certainly only big enough to fit 6 people in here and be able to move around, that was for sure. Drinks on the table? Check. Looking damn fine? Well, Hide unbuttoned the top couple buttons on her top. So sort of check? With that, she sat down, letting out a long sigh.

She was ready for this after all the shit that happened yesterday. She wanted a nice night to drink and have fun. Hide was so tempted to just start drinking now, but she decided to wait for her friends to arrive.

The first one was the sad Hare...in the colorful shirt? He himself was not as bright as his attire though, as the first words out of his mouth were "What are we drinking?"

“Straight shochu. I think we both need it tonight, huh?” Hide looked to Jin, noting his dour mood. “You definitely look like you need to relax tonight.”

Jin was silent as he went to the shochu, and just poured and took some. "I should seppuku, not drink."

Hide have Jin a raised brow at that. “What could you possibly... Man, sit down a moment. Jin. What’s doing on?”

Jin poured another one. "Well, let me see, based on my brief research, no one is actually interested in marrying me, I got someone killed, AGAIN, and I'm actually a terrible singer." He sat down. "Just dragging my Lord down."

“No one is actually interested?” Hide found that hard to believe. Jin seemed like a pretty good guy. But that other part really got her attention. “Got someone killed? You mean that you were there when...”

Jin nodded. "Hai. I was with Koryn, Susumu-san, Moshi-san. Kuni-san was at the...front? Of the boat? I was slow. And weak, and..." he started pouring another drink. "I shot at the beast as best as I could, but...it was too quick. Ie. I was too slow."

"I think I might... Order another bottle of that stuff." Well, Jin was going to be drunk before people gather and actually start singing. "Beast caught you by surprise, yeah? And sounds like you may have been the only bushi there? Something that big isn't a one-bushi job, Jin-san. That thing probably takes an entire hunting party."

Hide poured herself a drink, but didn't take a sip. She just stared at it, contemplating her own mortality after what happened to her yesterday. A fate worse than death could have awaited her... "Sometimes there's nothing you alone can do. No matter how fast you are, there's no saving everyone. You can, however, think about the people who you have saved. Every time you've taken out an enemy, you saved a comrade."

It was her idea, she supposed she should lay on the bed that she made. The day was pleasant or ideal but she knew it was all in good fun, maybe, enough that she could make an effort to dragging herself out for the occasion. She made her appearance, throwing on a blazer atop of her usual outfit to make herself look more presentable. She bowed to everyone when she found the room that was booked for them.

"Good evening, everyone. This the regrettable decisions room?" she asked with a wry smile.

Hide turned her attention to Eriko, a bit relieved that she made it. Seemed like a pretty glum day and wouldn’t have blamed her for skipping out. “Glad you could make it, Eriko-san.”

She poured a glass, and looked to Eriko as if she were offering the glass to her. “I suppose we are the ‘regrettable decisions’ room. I apologize in advance for anything sung or said once we get to the second bottle.”

For the sake of not making Jin repeat all that, Mumei's been chilling in the corner focused on an apparently misbehaving communicator. She's wearing something that's getting bought in another thread at some point, so it's a mystery right now. But the worn jacket has a collection of diagonal rips, clumsily stitched over with thin black cord to hold the edges of each rip together. It kind of looks like a surgery gone wrong.

She frowns slightly. "Everyone have a bad day at once?." She sure doesn't avoid the shochu though.

"Jin-san, blame yourself all you like for your marital prospects and horrible singing, but...they gave me some of the report to prepare for the service. Those things are fast and big enough that they only have to bite you once and..." She swallows with a small shiver. "Unless you literally pushed him at it, the only thing that would have helped was being the one it snapped at instead."

"We will all regret the octave range I'm planning to choose here in a minute anyway."

Hide rose a brow at Mumei finally speaking up. Man, that communicator really needed replacing or something. She nodded along in agreement when she said her but to Jin, but upon mentioning her singing, Hide couldn’t help but grin. “Mumei-san, does that mean you would like to sing first tonight?”

"It wasn't a great day, pretty sucky when you have a cousin die," she said with a shrug after throwing in a quick bow. "But, I think we can manage here."

She took the glass from Hide then took a small sip from it. "Mm, shochu? Someone is starting the night strong. Let's not start shooting shochu just yet, just enough to take the edge off. I imagine we'll fine plenty of reasons to drink from each other. The fun is kinda in the progression, right?"

As the actual performer in the bunch, the Osprey shows no hesitancy at going first, skimming through the catalog holoslate with half her attention.

"Ah, sorry, I wasn't sure how that was a regrettable decision in here. It's definitely sucky. Not...really the usual thing for a miai, is it?" She thinks about cults and possibly dangerous rituals as other kind of unusual miai events.

“I mean, I still haven’t taken a drink from my glass.” Hide motioned to her still full glass on the tray, her expression sympathetic when it came to the whole Koryn situation. She then gestured towards the free seats around. “Take your pick while you still can, Eriko-san.”

"OK, that's a regrettable decision, Hide-san." She does raise and eyebrow at her 'Eriko-san' since that's a new level of informality. "I give you early birds some advice, I tend to get expressive when singing, so that end of the room," She points in Hide's direction, "Is a bit less dangerous."

"OK, couldn't really get anything like this going at an official ceremony, but here we go." She cues up a very well known song from the classic holoseries Stars of My Home. One of the actors had died suddenly, needing to be written out with a heroic space battle against a menace from the Eastern Nebula. They'd earned awards for masterful use of old footage interspersed with the most impressive space battle a holoseries budget could present, as well as for the haunting song sung over the silent drama of the final moments of the battle and Hiruma Katsuhito's last moments of sacrifice, driving back the threat to all the Empire. It was popular at less formal memorials and boozy wakes.

"Seems appropriate, yes?"

Jin silently went for the shochu...again.

"Mhm, sure Kuni-san, Mumei-san." He answered simply for now. He listened to Mumei's song, his heart catching.

"Well...it's all going to be worse singing from on here." He quipped weakly.

Well, the long stretches in higher octaves were more strained than haunting in the Osprey's rendition, but there was some benefit to picking a song with associations strong enough that most wouldn't even really hear you.

"That sounds like you're volunteering, Jin-san," she says pushing the holoslate his way. "need to teach Yube to sing backup."

Eriko glanced to Mumei, then glanced to Hide. She gave a knowing nod with a faint smirk as she made her move toward Hide and settled down at a seat next to her. "I guess I'd better pick the best seat in the house. Let's hope this becomes a long night, in a good way."
