At first, Akagi tried to watch the feature presentation with anthropological interest, but the moody soundtrack and dim lighting in the holo started to get to him.

"Oh no! Don't do that!" Akagi was heard to say when the dutiful but ditzy teen heroine headed down to the haunted server room to investigate the so-called computer problems.... alone... in her under-kimono... at midnight....

"The real horror was the person who put so much mushroom sauce into the bento." He muttered, but still ate gladly. "Why? Why are you doing that? Just...deplete the battery. The gaki cannot follow you if the machine is offline. Why..."

He let out a sigh.

"This is almost as bad as my attempts at getting to know future spouses."

"The real horror is the friends we made along the way." She replied with a chuckle, only glancing briefly to the Hare before looking back to the screen.

"It does seem pretty heavy-handed, though. Have trouble with prospective spouses thus far, Ujina-sama?"

She winced. "Oh, she tried to charge her communicator to call for help. Bad plan, captain."

"Eh, I don't know. That's the problem. I have some ideas who to approach, but have no idea how. I don't want to be too heavy handed and courting was not covered in my curriculum."

He sighed. "How about you, Daidoji-san, Bayushi-san?" He winced when the samurai-ko turned back because she forgot the now charged communicator.

"Fukorijin save us all."

"To be honest, I came to holovid night hoping to meet people," Akagi admitted. "That's...kind of working so far!" He grinned at Jin and Shizuku.

"Also, I've now learned how to use chopsticks to disable a haunted portable informator in an emergency," he added, referencing an earlier scene in the movie. "I'm sure that will come in useful someday."

"Honestly, you'll probably be fine. I just approach like I'm meeting a new friend. Aside from that, we all know why we're here, so I don't think it's too weird to be pretty thorough in getting to know someone," she said thoughtfully. "Hey, you did! It works out. And we talked more, too! So, progress!"

"You never know where you'll end up, so it could be." She took a bit, chewing and swallowing before adding. "I bet that if they don't use that communicator before the end of the movie, it's gonna be a sequel hook."

Jin smirked. "Arigatou, minna-san." He let out a laugh. "Maybe, but now I'm curious about those chop sticks. She used them to hold the bun in her hair. I am pretty sure she's going to pull them out to disable something."

"Well, now that they've fled the city and are hiding in the forest, they should be safe from the restless dead..." Akagi began to say, then let out a gasp when the holo suddenly showed a cyber-gaki emerging from a kamigotchi that one of the children had smuggled onto the wilderness trek.

The kamigotchi hadn't been fed for hours, and now it was hungry... hungry for blood.

"It's a horror movie. No one's ever safe," she said with a nod of certainty.

Jin snickered. "Just like the miai, eh? We're always an option for someone. Whoever that someone is." Wow, dark Jin.

"Or maybe not?"

Nice save.

"Oh, I'm sure you'll do well at the miai, Ujina-san," Akagi said politely. "More than likely, you'll be the one who gets to choose from the rest of us hopefuls, rather than the other way around."

"No one is safe... from marriage. Dun dun dun!" She replied with a grin, then nodded at Akagi. "That's true. You'll likely have the pick of the litter, as it were. It kind of becomes a matter of what you like."

"You're right, I'm sure, Daidoji-san," Akagi agreed, as the holovid finished and the credits began to roll. "So, if it isn't too forward a question... what is it that you like?"

The Scorpion looked between the Crane and the Hare, inviting either or both of them to answer.

"Someone I can get along with, and who can enjoy themselves in my clan. At least, I'd prefer to stay in my clan, as I assume many of you would." He smiled and nodded. "Besides that, of course I would prefer a sentimental or even romantic relationship, but I understand that Benten's ways are mysterious. Preferably bushi though."

"Hmm, I can go either way about where I go. I recognize that my status means that I will likely leave my Clan if I can marry decently," she admitted. "I'd like someone whose duties are complimentary to mine, I think. I'd like to be able to see my spouse regularly and have a close relationship with them. It'd be nice if we share interests, or at least they don't mind me rambling about games. I'd like it if they... have a sense of fun."

"Romance and fun, such good objectives to have," Akagi mused. "Romance and fun sound good to me, as well as a match that helps my clan. I'm also hoping for someone with a sense of adventure. Though.... not quite as much adventure as in the holo we just watched."

"I figured helping my Clan sort of went without saying... Though I've been assured that the Crane would essentially find most matches useful, so while we have some inclinations, nothing's off the table short of a ronin or something," she said with a chuckle. "Not down for ghost hunting? Or being hunted by ghosts, anyway. Can't say I blame you."

“Ehhh, ghosts aren’t really my thing,” Akagi said with a chuckle. “I’m fine chasing alien monsters or pirates, but if I can’t shoot it or grab it, it’s out of my MOS. Better leave ghosts for the witch hunters.”

Jin just nodded. "Yeah...thankfully we don't deal with ghosts. Granted, some of my sister's stories are not much better." He shivered. "Great entertainment at a family get together though." He smiled at the thought. "Do you guys have siblings?"

"I was enough trouble on my own," she half-joked.
