There was really only one game that interested Hoshiko. It was the game she always played whenever she came to the Starcade. She liked games, but she loved dancing. She'd memorized the steps to MMSSO3 long ago and had added her own flair.

Unfortunately, she had to step aside for others. She found herself at Starlight Miko Crusaders: Temple Defenders and quickly found a rhythm to it. Somehow, she made it into another dance.

Finally, she convinced some new friends to play Streets of Thunder 4 with her. They were a bit annoyed that she danced to the game's music, but they did pretty well.

Usually, Mumei did not have the extra coin to indulge, but occasionally shipmates did. At least one really liked to have her tag along without introduction (almost nobody asked the scruffy looking girl anything when it looked like she was just there to watch everyone else play) and then make some bets before plunking the coins into the Moshi Moshi machine. Now she hadn't had a chance to play SSO3 yet, but watching a few rounds was more than enough to pick up the moves.

She punched through to a tune with enough bass to feel 5 feet out from the game floor. There wasn't much room for improvisation, but she was almost certain there were a few 'hidden' moves for bonuses, and found the space to throw them in as the colorful beams of light tracked her every move. She sunk into the beat and hit every mark it dropped, plus most of the ones you needed extra speed or reach for. The three point landing with the ending chord came all too soon, and she knew she needed to make way for other players. She might be greedy, but she was also polite.

Which proved useful shouldering into the Driftmaster line. She was not above batting her eyes for a turn, but offering a pinch of intoxicating violet honey from her dwindling supply was more effective tonight. She chose the most old fashioned choice on the basic lineup, with none of the cachet of an inherited card. Some things had become more automatic in later models, but she liked the dance of the extra work involved with this old simulated beast as she wove it through the wild weave of mountains she had never seen in reality. She squeaked through the course and was out of her seat before the video had finished crossing the finish line celebration, trying to let as many as possible get in a game.

What then? Fighting held no appeal...but baseball? Why not. She handles the electronic bat spinning with it a moment to get the feel of it as a prop, an extension. If she could grab someone's hand as she flew at them on a zero-R dance floor, she could hit a little simulated ball with this bat. Well, that's what she assumed. And...she was right.

Shion kept discussing for quite some time whether or not she should go for the Retro Night at the Arcade. It would probably be a huge mess of sounds and music and talk and laughter, much more than on other days, and that might be a bit annoying..

She also wasn't sure how and whether that might be a chance to get to know any of the other participants better in such an event.... and she wasn't even sure she knew how she should go about getting to know others and mingle with them for a Miai.

But after some time... well, why not? She would have work later today, so at least it could be some fun..

After entering, she started by doing what should be the most boring part of the night - queueing. Luckily, she managed to talk to some people and find a time when the queue was a bit shorter, so she managed to get a go at Driftmaster.

When she finally gets a chance to race, she decides to take few risks, but performs quite well, and manages to win her race. She didn't particularly expect the cheering, but she feels good to be able to do it.

D3 EE - Retro Night - Queueing for Driftmaster. Etiquette/ Awa TN 15: 4d10o10k3 18 - Let's ride!

D3 EE - Retro Night - Driftmaster. Driving/ Agi + Honour TN 20. VP for +1k1; unskilled.: 4d10k4+6 30 - 20 tickets, +0.1 Glory

She then decides to try her hand at Streets of Thunder 4, but first she tries to find others who might be interested in playing with her, as she remembers playing as a group was quite a bit easier. After some time, she does find others to tag with her, and together with them she beats the game without a problem. Their final score is not one of the greatest ever seen, granted, but still, it's a good playthrough.

D3 EE - Retro Night - Trying to find someone to play Streets of Thunder 4 with her. Courtier/Awareness TN 15: 4d10o10k3 24 - Found other players!

D3 EE - Retro Night - Streets of Thunder 4, playing with others. Jiujutsu/ Agility unskilled, +5 cooperative bonus. TN 20: 3d10k3+5 28 - 20 tickets

Finally, she decides to have a go at Miko Starlight Crusaders. She has sadly not had the chance to receive training in traditional Rokugani archery, although she has seen it done a few times, but... it shouldn't be all that different from guns? It would be a fun chance to discover, at least.
She looks at some players going before her, and while some people seem to be doing some odd movements to draw their arrows, she doesn't exactly understand why. It should be a straightforward movement... shouldn't it?
Drawing her arrows as they should be drawn, she manages a complete playthrough - once again not with a particularly remarkable score, but it's enough to see the game's ending, and she's happy at that.

D3 EE - Retro night - Reload trick on Miko Starlight Crusaders - Sleight of Hand/ Agility unskilled. TN 15: 3d10k3 12 - FAIL!

D3 EE - Retro Night - Miko Starlight Crusaders - Kyujutsu/ Reflexes TN 15. Unskilled: 3d10k3 19 - 10 tickets

Final count: 20+20+10 = 50 tickets and +0.1 Glory for racing

When all is done, she holds her tickets... and doesn't exactly know what to do with them. She looks around for familiar faces, and sees Mumei.

"Konbanwa Nakauchi-san! What have you.... oi! I see you did quite well today!", she says, smiling at her. "Ah... I was thinking, any plans on what to do with the tickets? I... thought about getting the flute, but it's... odd."

Akihiko didn't intend to take the game night seriously. It sounded like fun, and he thought he might run into interesting people, so there was no doubt he'd go. But after passing on the day's official miai event, he went to the arcade with low expectations.

After a small group bailed on joining him for Streets of Thunder, Akihiko couldn't believe he still managed a respectable score. Wow. Ok.

Akihiko's targeting eye served him well in Castle Smasher. It took some warming up to the game, but he made his bonus ball count and felt great about a good score. I know, father, I would have been a great gunnery officer.

His ticket count already much more impressive than he would have entertained, the Lion pilot is watching the time and doesn't want to push his luck. But, feeling like a good shot, he can't take his eyes off the deceptively short line for Starlight Miko Crusaders. He ends up there almost twice as long as he expected, and time becoming a real concern--but it does give him a chance to see some tricks from players ahead of him. When Akihiko's turn comes, he makes his movements as quick and tight as he can, skating by on pure speed as his archery is, if closely reviewed, deplorable.

But with fresh tickets in hand, he beelines for the prize booth, thinking he really will still be ok on time. That is, until he has to make an actual choice. Oh, dear kami, what have I done?

Play together, win together: pooh.
Streets of Thunder 4 gameplay: [https://orokos.com/roll/844663]just passed[/url].
Bonus Ball: passed barely.
Castle Smasher: made w/1 raise!
Quick Reload: I get it.
Starlight Miko Crusaders: no, but reroll for passing Quick Reload: YES!!!

Total 50 tickets, taking one Oharu plush and one Phoenix plush.

Jin let out a laugh at hte sights and colors and all the people! After the events of today, it was good to cut loose in a way. First, he went to Streets of Thunder. "Sugoi! Hare mart had Streets of Thunder 2: The Second Thunders!" He asked around if anyone wanted to play, but it seemed everyone was around Sunset overdrive. No problem! He chose Toturi, recalling his balanced stats, and went to town! Or streets? He cashed out his tickets happily.

Next up was Temple Defenders. Starlight Miko Crusaders. Playing as Doji Yayoi, he expertly placed his shots, even though he never used a real bow in his life! It helped that he realized the trick for quick reloading.

Finally, baseball! Man, it was long since he played. Unfortunately, he could not read the pixelated pitcher properly, but he still managed to hit the ball, but not a homerun, sadly. He was more of a short stop, after all.

Shokomaru looked at the games.

No, the seven thunders killing Fu Leng is nice, but...yeah. Spider things. Dance dance...he liked that better with a partner. Driving...oof. He looked at the veterans of the game and their little society and decided he didn't want to bother.

Oh.

Baseball.

Okay.

He stepped up, tokens in. Watched the pitcher carefully. He let one pitch go by, 1-0. Another pitch. 1-1 count. The next, he noticed the same motion from the previous throw, saw the arc of the ball and just knew it was time.

CRACK!

And it went sailing over the fence. He smirked, then placed the bat back and collected his 80 tickets. He could take that and walk away. It wouldn't get any better.

After a long day of being winded, splashing people, and killing dinosaurs (samurai gonna samurai) Shoan heads for the arcade.

And then immediately backs out when she sees how crowded it is, loitering outside for nearly half an hour before decided to finally brave the crowds.

Trying to make her way to one of the more popular machines the Lion finds herself deposited at 'Starlight Miko Crusaders: Temple Defenders' Which as far as she can tell is a highly innacurate depiction of the work expected of priestess in a temple. Generally, when someone in a temple needs to be killed, someone like Shoan gets called, you don't do that in house.

Still, firing a bow isn't that disimilar from firing a gun

Day 3 EE, Retro Night, Starlight Miko Crusaders: Temple Defenders, kyujustu/reflexes TN 15, unskilled: 3d10 21

By then a spot has opened up on Streets of Thunder 4, which Shoan definitely does remember from his histories. Although Toturi probably hadn't wielded a chaingun...probably, maybe it wasn't just talked about.

The local phoenix don't seem that keen on partnering up with her until Shoan drops a bombshell

"I fought several monsters today, I will discuss the awesome details with you if you lend me your strength."
Day 3 EE, Retro Night, play together win together, TN 15 courtier/awareness: 6d10o10k3 24

And they do

It's a closely fought game and the team nearly uses, but then Shoan slams down her hand on the attack button so hard it seems to send Toturi into his invincible 'Black Lion' mode and the party narrowly defeats Fu-Leng and his army of giant robot rats.
Day 3 EE, Retro Night, jujitsu agility TN 15 with +5 from play together win together bonus: 3d10o10k2+5 15

By this point there's only time for one machine, and she heads straight for Bassui Pro Baseball Striker.
Shoan doesn't really know much about baseball, but she once spent three days engaged in a skirmish with an enemy sniper before killing him with a plank of wood, so this was pretty much the same thing.

Day 3 EE, Retro Night, baseball reading the pitcher, investigation/perception TN 15: 4d10o10k3 26

When all is said and done, she swings for the fences and somehow miraculously manages to score a home run
Day 3 EE, Retro Night, baseball striker, 3 raises, one free raise from reading the pitcher, TN 25, voided for skill rank: 4d10o10k3 26

The crowd goes wild, Shoan goes wild (a whole fist pump) and the evening ends in improbable success as the Murame reflects on how much better she is at arcade games than anything useful.

(( 110 tickets obtained, Shoan is going to buy:

(1) Shirakawa Nagareboshi (TM) shades
(2) Cute pair of earrings:
(3) Small mirror decorated in local flora
))

A whole arcade? A rare treat for a Spider to unwind with something that wasn't quite so...Spider-y.

It wasn't terrible difficult to find more players, and with their powers combined, the Spider and his teammates managed to topple the final boss.

Next was pinball. His skills at marksmanship served him well in getting the extra ball, but the flashing lights and the press of bodies broke his concentration a bit and he failed to collect tickets.

And finally, MMSRO3! Eyeballing some of the expert players, he memorized their steps and took to the machine himself. While he was able to keep up for most of the game, he was unable to get a winning score and stepped off the game with no tickets from it.

All in all, 20 tickets...which he turned in for a mirror with some local flora on it. A potential gift for someone special, perhaps?

It was Retro Night! Obviously the best night. Shizuku couldn't have been more thrilled that it was happening. A night totally dedicated to her hobby? Yes, please. Plus an opportunity to prepare for tonight, if she got enough tickets.

Oh, she would get enough tickets.

Sure, getting a group for Streets of Thunder was a loss, but she was never one to let being the weird person hanging out alone hold her back. She fight through it as well as she could, playing to her strengths with focus and tenacity. It at a whole lot of change, but she came away with tickets for her efforts, and that was good enough.

Next was pinball. Fortunately, while she wasn't great at engineering, she WAS great at aiming. Anyone watching closing could see her pupils change as she hit the ball at exactly the right angle to hit the gardens, taking advantage of the double ball to get a respectable score, but not a replay. But the tickets she got were plenty for her plan.

The dance game she already knew she loved. She didn't worry about paying too much attention to the other players. She had a decent sense of rhythm. It would be embarrassing as a Crane if she didn't. Once she was up to the mat, she put her all into it, and while she was only rewarded the the slim ticket output of an uninspired win because of using some of the lower difficulty songs, she still felt like she'd done great.

She left with a new Fantasy Fight deck, feeling better armed for the evening ahead.

An arcade night huh? well Satoru didn't have much experience with video games but he was plenty one for competition and doing his best even if it was at a trivial challenge.

The Spider Priest lined up with clearly the best game first, one that made the player rely on their mind rather than just reflexes or agility. Though obviously a well tuned body didn't hurt, he had heard about the bonus ball trick and nailed the right spot. With extra ammo and a bit of focus that castle didn't stand a chance.

Next he tried a sports themed game, this one's exploit was a little trickier and he almost saw it come together but lost track at the last minute and missed the advantage. However He focused up and struck the ball with such force if he had really tried at it he could have likely scored a home run. Maybe if doctoring fell through he could make a career of baseball.

later he tried out a game based around some show he had really never heard of. It was not to hjis taste, using an outdated weapon to fight enemies. His perceptions were likely colored by the fact that he was utter shit at it.

It had been an . . . indifferent day for the Hyper Fox. Time for some relaxation FULL ON FOXEH STYLE! It was fortunate there was even a tournament of sorts on. Izumi put on his game face . . . PLAYER ONE IS READY!!!!!

First was the pinball. Izumi was a shugenja, not a wizard . . . no matter the castle would fall! He shot ball after ball after the elusive garden target but his best attempt merely impacted on the surface and didn't go in. Realising he was running out of time and ammunition he launched an assault on the outer walls. The walls were shaken . . . but still they stood.

"MustbeCrabbuilt!!!!!" No tickets, but the Fox did not seem to mind as he moved on . . .

. . . to the baseball game! Izumi hadn't played much of this sport, but he had watched a lot. He studied the pitcher as he waited his turn . . . figuring out that the music was great and had such a good beat! Oh wait . . . that wasn't supposed to be what he was studying!!! Welp, no time left as it is BATTER UP! time. A mighty swing!!! Just tipped into the Catcher's glove.

"SOCLOSE!!!!!" Kitsune Excitement Level rising.

Time for one more game. To the Archery Range!!!!! He watched the others play as he waited . . . wondering why they were acting like they had a real bow when it was just a light gun and much easier to reload than some folks were making it. Oh well, Foxeh would not fall for that!!!! PEW PEW!!! The little Kitsune leaped about as much as the character in the game and had the killing shot lined up on the Boss! PEW!!! Into the wall! Oh no all is lost, but no RAPID RELOAD time and PEW once more!! Down goes the first boss, shot right between the eyes with the golden arrow!

"WOOHOO!!!! HATAKETHATSLIMEBALL!!!!"

With time running out he only had 10 tickets, but that doesn't matter as FOXEH HAD FUN!!! which is far more important to him.

When Nishida entered the arcade hall, he hoped that nobody would come here. At least nobody he knew. To his biggest nightmare, some of the Miai participants were here. Well, there was nothing to do about it.

Arcade games were his little guilty pleasure. Not that he was particularly good at it as he proved at Castle Crasher or Bassui Pro Baseball Striker, but he still had,... fun.
He tore his belt as good as he could to not have a fat grin on his face and to indulge in nostalgia for a better time.

At the Moshi Moshi Super Sunrise Overdive 3 he was able to get a few tickets. This was mainly because Nishida had good eyes and a very good sense of rhythm and could copy well, and he was not a Tryhard at all who had spent his childhood unsuccessfully in front of this machine.

He had forgotten himself a little when he finally defeated the machine and got his 10 tickets for it, and gave a shout of joy.

Remembering where he was and who he was, he cleared his throat, straightened his collar, and walked with his head held high to the prize-giving table, proudly fetching a small pack of sweets.

Nara entered the retro night dressed the part and distracted. Lots of blinking lights and pretty colours, she was in bliss!

She wanted to try all the games! Sadly she couldn't, but she proved to apparently be good with the Mythic bow of Purity which was totally lamer than a rifle with the spirit of the first demon hunter, but Starlight Miko Crusaders was pretty huge so she couldn't argue it. Plus she got tickets!

The rest of the games sadly evaded her. She was so close to winning the race until someone distracted her and cost her first place. Which meant she was short on the tickets she was hoping for...

(OOc: 3 games -

Game 1: Starlight Miko Crusaders: Temple Defenders
D3 EE retro night event game 1 (Temple Defenders). Sleight of Hand/Agility roll at TN15: 2d10 11
D3 EE retro night event game 1 (Temple Defenders). Kyujutsu/Reflexes at TN15: 3d10 22 pass - 10 tickets

Game 2: Moshi Moshi Super Sunrise Overdive 3
D3 EE retro night event game 2 (Super Sunrise Overdive 3). Perform: Dancing (Modern)/Agility roll at TN20. Sensation for rank: 3d10o10k2 14 fail

Game 3: Driftmaster: Ignition Plus
D3 EE retro night event game 3 (Ignition Plus). Etiquette/Awareness roll at TN15 to wait in line: 5d10o10k4 20 - can play!
D3 EE retro night event game 3 (Ignition Plus). Driving (Car)/Agility at TN20: 2d10 17 - fail :( so close...

10 tickets

Retro night sounded like a fun-filled way to spend the night so Koseki threw on some casual clothes and hit up the Starcade. When he heard they had Driftmaster he got really excited! An excitement that turned to utter frustration after spending an hour in the queue with no sign of it getting any shorter.

After leaving that one behind he was still mad when he got into the booth for Starlight Miko Crusaders. The less said about that game the better. He slunk out as if he had never been there and wondered a)if they had a Low Score table, and b) how anyone ever hit anything back in the days of actual bows. Somewhere in the Celestial Heavens an evil dragon chuckled maniacally...

The good news was that he had saved the best for last. Castle Smashers was the sort of game that played to his talents: hitting targets and making or breaking things. He drummed out a few beats as the score rocketed up with a series of loud DINGs. Shame he couldn't have played it all night...

With a haul of only 30 tickets he went off to find his MCA buddies to see if they could pool their winnings into something useful.

It wasn’t hard to form a team for the Streets of Thunder, since everyone knew you needed a team to do well. Out of clan loyalty, Akagi ended up playing the Bayushi Kachiko avatar. His team was doing passably well until they got to the sewer level and had to fight the bog hag boss. Unfortunately, neither Kachiko’s SEDUCE nor her POISON special moves were very effective against the bog hag, so after a few failed attempts, Akagi decided to stop wasting tokens.

Collecting the tickets he had won so far, Akagi tried his hand at Starlight Miko Crusaders. The laser bow was kind of like a gun, and he had great fun shooting up cartoony goblins and oni, even managing to defeat three of the Dark Starlight Miko before running out of hearts.

Akagi was a little doubtful about Moshi Moshi Super Sunrise Overdive, but after watching some of the others play it for awhile, he gave it a try. The Scorpion flailed and stomped around in an attempt to imitate the others’ dance moves, and managed to fool the game into coughing up a few tickets.

3EE Streets of Thunder, Play Together AWA/Courtier (Manipulation) TN15: 4d10ro1o10k3 18 succeeded
3EE Streets of Thunder, AGI/Jiujutsu +5 cooperative bonus TN20: 4d10o10k3+5 28 succeeds for 20 tickets
3EE Starlight Miko Crusaders with 2 raises, REF/Kyujutsu (void point for skill) TN25: 5d10o10k4 34 succeeds for 30 tickets
3EE Moshi Moshi Super Sunrise Overdive, Memorize steps PER/Investigation TN20: 4d10o10k3 21
3EE Moshi Moshi Super Sunrise Overdive with 1 raise, AGI/Perform: Dance (phantom skill from memorizing steps) +Void Point TN25: 5d10o10k4 27 succeeds for 20 tickets

Total: 70 tickets.
Kami-Pet (TM), portable pet device claimed!

[SELFIE-VIEW CLOSE-UP OF SHIBA ATSUMORI.]

"Whoa! It's a jungle in here!"

Atsumori enjoyed the occasional round of Matsu 3124 Pro Kemari as much as the next bloke--preferably with a few mates, some cans of ice cold chuuhi, and maybe a well-charged inhalator of whatever--but in general he wasn't a habitual player of electronic games. Still, it seemed like the Starcade was the place to be tonight!

"Almost like a different little ecosystem 'round every game box, innit?" he chuckled to the random Phoenix waiting behind him on line for Streets of Thunder. He couldn't convince the fellow to join him, but he still got through a few levels as the mysterious Hitomi, whose Twin Blade Slash made it easy to cut through weak enemies quickly. He didn't make the score list at Castle Smasher despite nailing the trigger for an extra ball, but he was back in the zone for a round of Moshi Moshi Super Sunrise Escalation... so much so that he probably should've picked something a little harder than that one Heavenly 9 song everyone knew from last summer.
