"Watch out Doji-san, it's those teleporting ones again!"
Shoan frantically tries to maneuver her small craft away from a bunch of laughing ronin with jetpacks who seem to jump around the stage.

For her part, the Lion is having a blast.

With a rapid succession of button presses the screen lit up and a number of enemies on her side disappeared. "Thank you for the warning." Her eyes never seemed to stay still as they tried to keep track of all that was happening on the screen.

A moment later she said, "The ones with red pants attack in a 2-3-5 sequence, Ikoma-san, watch out for that."

"There pants will not save them, I must merely switch to the homing toritaka torpedoes."
Even so, the fighting is frantic, with Hakka's precise skills keeping them in the fight....that is until the final boss arrives Lord Vilius himself.

His giant craft takes up nearly half the entire screen as it begins launching attack ships at our heroes
"That may be a problem, I think my shield's are nearly gone!"

"See if they drop a power up, those seem to give a a minor boost to defense, even if-" a siren sound comes from the machine. "It decided to do launch another wave behind this one, instead. Boss battles are so troublesome."

With the continuous click of the joystick and the buttons Hakka flew her fighter in front of Shoan's. "We will persevere, Ikoma-san."

"But Doji-san, your shield's alone won't be enough! Please, forgive me for what I must do."
Thrusting her joystick all the way forward, Shoan's damaged craft rockets into the wave behind them before the Lion furiously mashes the self-destruct button, vaporising the attack craft and leaving Hakka with a 1vs1 with the boss in front of them

"Avenge....me"

There is no response verbally, but the rapid staccato of the buttons being pressed with the occasional rather inelegant slam, was proof enough that Hakka was attempting to. The console gave one last loud burst of noise before there was cheery automated voice announcing, "Lord Vilius has retreated! YOUR VICTORY IS IN ANOTHER CASTLE!"

A few moments of silence
"Victory!" Shoan raises a clenched fist both in salute to Hakka and in memory of the fallen. More than a few of the arcade's other residents look over with raised eyes as she sheepishly then lowers her hand
"Modern technology....it's quite immersive."

"A fine showing, Matsu-san," said Hakka, the smirk from earlier having smoothed out into a more pleasant and playful smile. A vaguely thoughtful look appeared as she added, "Your enthusiastic style of play was a significant asset and rained much devastation on Lord Vilius' minions."

"Only because it combined nicely with your own more measured approach, I still don't know how you managed to pull off that combo where you have to spin the stick between each button press, you are more dextrous than most bushi I know, let alone courtiers."
