Jin stood among the three pools, trying to decide between the three. He was still drowsy, but an early morning bths sounded just like the luxury that a soldier on leave could enjoy without guilt. "Hot, cold or scorching? Mhm...what do I feel like today?"

Meanwhile Yube was near his leg, eyeing the target of his latest shenanigan....steal a towel? Bathe in the water? Or just take another nap...

At least a refreshing scrub and wash helped wake up from the drinking last night, though she was lucky to have a good stomach for alcohol. With her washing routine done, especially with great care shown to her face, she wrapped a towel around herself to head out to the pools.

Seeing another samurai by them, Hyeon-ju gave the unknown man a nod, and went for the warm pool herself. It was too early in the day for cold or hot.

Jin eyed the samurai-ko and after a short deliberation joined her. "May I samurai-sama? Ujina Jin, nikutai of 101st drop trooper brigade, 1st spacebor lne battalion."

"Of course, Ujina-sama," she nodded, taking off the towel as she got into the pool. There was nothing sensual about the motion, as it was just a woman getting into a bath.

Even without her makeup on, Hyeon-ju was a stunning beauty.

"Utaku Hyeon-ju, hohei of the 7th Sky Rider Wing, Insect Squadron."

Jin took off his own towel, the fit athletic figure not unpleasant, but probably nothing new to the Unicorn. "Ah, a pilot then, Utaku-san?"

He let out a small sigh as he sank into the water. "Just a grunt myself."

"A pilot, yes. Like many Utaku are," she confirmed with a nod, sighing softly as she eased herself into a comfortable seated position in the pool.

"So you're... well, boarding party? Or ground-pounder?"

The tall Hare's legs extended far as he sank down. "Something inbetween. We drop via dropchutes into enemy territory, to flank, or acquire an objective." A slew of tiny scars were visible on his arms and torso, nothing major, but fairly recent.

"Hit fast, hit hard, and never look back."

"Ah, I see," she nodded with understanding. Her own body seemed mostly free of scars and blemishes, but that was maybe a perk of being a pilot.

"And here I thought that the Usagi Drop! idea was kind of a made up thing, but I'm glad to know that isn't the case. It must take quite a lot of guts to do drops like that. But maybe I have a different idea on what it means to use a dropchute, as that usually means things have gone terribly wrong for a pilot."

Jin laughed. "No, it's inspired by what we do. It can be nerve wracking, I recall my first drop." He put his hand into the water, extending it to gauge the heat further in.

"I assume pilots would be more nervous about using it, as it means they're shut down. For us, it's how we start the battle. It's what I wanted to do my whole life. You, always wanted to be a pilot?"

"For a pilot to use their chute, it usually means the start of a bad situation. Losing your ship for one, and then hoping you get to land somewhere kind of safe where you can get picked up later. We're trained to survive on our own in such possibilities, but it's never one we want to find ourselves in."

Hyeon-ju rubbed her neck as she considered the question. It wasn't a question she was often asked, actually. "I... it just seemed the natural choice. My mothers are both pilots, most of my siblings are pilots or navigators, and we have long lines of both going back all the way to the first fliers of our clan. I'm greatly honored to be a pilot."

"Ah, that is a great tradition." He nodded towards her. "The Ujina are mostly assigned to the armies, with a few handling my clan's more traditional duty. My sister, for instance, is a Witchfinder, but you'd find more Usagi than Ujina there."

His gaze traveled a bit from her face to her shoulder but stopped there. "Ah, haven't even thought of the landing. Usually not a problem for me, I'm used to landing in tiny spots. Or in the middle of an enemy army."

"As I said, sounds pretty gutsy. I'm not sure if I could do it," she admitted, though with some training, she probably could? "But some of my Moto brethren are more into that kind of thing. Boarding or drops."

"... Are Witchfinders like what the Kuni do?"

"Do they drop with their giant bugs, or alone?" He asked with a small smirk. "Aye. Kinda. I assume. Not exactly sure of either's details, but both hunt maho-tsukai?"

"Wha... no, no, we... don't use those much for warfare," she shook her head. "Space travel isn't good for most animals. Even oversized bugs."

The Unicorn had learned that the hard way.

"So is that something you do too?"

"Ah, hunt maho-tsukai? Not me personally, my sister is in that Duty thought." He sat up, his height even more evident in the new posture. "Ah, that makes sense. Must be difficult to feed and transport that many animals. And armor them up." He seemed to philosophize on the topic for a moment.

"Took part in any action recently?"

She idly wondered if that meant his sister was a Shugenja, but such questions could wait... until at least the second meeting.

"Some, yeah. Not so much recently as activity has quieted down, but we've had an issue with... pirates. Spooky ones." Hyeon-ju knew she couldn't say it was the Spider, because officially it wasn't the Spider, but most of the Unicorn kind of knew. "Had some confrontations with that while on duty. It's been going on ever since I graduated and joined my unit."

Jin nodded. "I hear pirates are a nuisance everywhere. Spooky ones?" He asked curiously, not making the connection. "Like, they have skulls painted on them, or?" He turned his head to the sideways. "Mhm, piracy is a big problem then. I don't deal much with that, pirates are more in the skies than on the ground, so haven't met many."

"It's a complicated answer. But I can say that the Spooky pirates haven't been a problem lately because they're now busy defending their own nests from some... big guys." She couldn't make it too obvious that she meant the Spider and the Emerald Champion.

"But, really, Unicorn space is actually mostly peaceful."

"Ah, I see." He shrugged. "I am not really into the politics of how or why. My gunso tells me where we drop, we drop." His toes wiggled in the water. "Luckily no problems came of it, as far as I know." Except for the last drop...

"What does Utaku-san do in her pastime?"

"In my spare time?" It felt like she didn't have that much of it. "I like to listen to music... serials isn't something I can keep up with, but music is easy like that. Hm, I like to learn more about fashion, makeup... kind of like my one artistic talent I suppose. Go clubbing if there's a place for that."

She looked to him. "What about you? What do you do when you're not dropping into the action?"
