Shuffling a little
"So....yes" Clearly the Lion had no idea where to take the conversation now.

"I would expect however that if word comes to the Governor about a White Death's presence, he is exactly the sort who would organize a hunt." He straightens a bit, attempting to recover his On. "More likely it would be a hunt for Reavers, which are quite clever ambush predators."

"Reavers? It is an intimidating name Asako-san. Who do you hunt such creatures?"

He's able to recite this from memory, without any trauma.

"Reavers can grow up to four meters tall, and are primarily ambush predators. They most often attack Otori, although while young have been known to attack humans. The older ones don't often see us as worth their time for the amount of sustenance we'd provide. They can lie still for hours at a time, camouflaged into their surroundings."

Shoan files that away, clearly much more comfortable talking combat.
"And are they vulnerable to standard imperial weaponry? I have only my serviceman's equipment with me and would not want to trouble the Phoenix for anything more."

"I believe standard Imperial weaponry are more then enough." He nods firmly. "Not that I've fought them myself."

She nods, the rifle would do then
"That is quite alright Asako-san, we all serve our clans in our own way."
Wait, had she asked him what his duties actually were?
"I for instance...shoot people. I mean, I serve as an infantryman and in that capacity I sometimes shoot people, I do not just shoot people."

"Hai, I understand. I serve as an attache to one or another higher ranking courtiers, and a researcher here on Asakaze." He smiles a bit.

"That must be interesting?"
Shoan presumes something like that is right up an Asako's alley
"Do you intend to remain on Asakaze?"

"If I remain in the Phoenix? I still have much to repay those who taught me and made me who I am today. Though it's possible my duties would have me travel." He sighs a little. "I admit, I've never really imagined marrying into another clan."

"It is an intimidating prospect, I am sure not sure I would be suited to duties in another clan. I hope your match marries in, Asako-san. Then you could repay your sensei without problem."
Trying to sound supportive
"Given your work on the planet, surely you would be thought of as too important to be allowed to leave the clan?"

A shake of his head. "No, not likely. Asako Chiruha-sama is even better, and has closer ties. She's got nothing in the miai that'd keep her here either, should people of higher status choose her."

"Ah, you make it sound like selecting an apple from a cart."
Not that Shoan's tone suggests she disagrees.

"I have to hope that it's more then that. But then...that's one reason I'm trying the survey as a way to help inform people about each other and Asakaze." He puts away his densai carefully and takes back out the holorecorder.

Shoan nods

Deadpan "I hope it bears fruit Asako-san. Please, do not let me take up any more of your time. Thank you for your conversation and your advice. I'm sure I will will see you again before too long."

"Hai, I hope so! Thank you much for taking the time to speak with me." He bows, sincerely.
