"So", he started. "Then what is your open mind telling you now?"

He sipped, the cup emptied. He looked at it with regret. Too fast.

She glanced back at Shokomaru a moment before speaking up with a light tease. "Mmm, that you need more coffee... and a wife that knows how to make a good cup."

"Well I put in an order with battalion, but the quartermaster and I don't talk, so here I am", he said with a smirk. "Looking to fill the billet?"

"If you mean for the coffee, I wouldn't count on it. I'd probably learn fast, but I get my hot drinks from the local shop." She paused, looking thoughtful. "Hmmm... now you have me thinking if I've met anyone that noted they like to cook..."

"Seeing as how army coffee actually is the worst, you could get by with anything", he answered, but kept his smirk. "Though something tells me you wouldn't be satisfied knowing you weren't a cut above."

"Mmm, I'd put it more that I see little reason in making bad coffee, but it's the same end really." She gave a light chuckle.

It was a grin, sure. More like showing teeth. The kind of grin someone who had very much seen a reason for terrible coffee could make. Because it was still coffee, and there was no sense dying without having been recaffed first.

"Well, me and the all the lads and lasses living in the trenches would very much like coffee standards to rise to Asahina-san's level, so if you please perhaps we can get married right now. I know the guy to talk to so we can get this ball rolling."

Yet by the time he was done it was clear Shokomaru was having her on (probably), and smiling in good humor about it.

She gave a light smirk in reply, whatever the cause. "I don't think even the Daidoji legions have my level of coffee standards. I doubt I'd get any more traction with the Spider."

"I think Asahina-san is playing humble, but I hold nothing against her for such a noble act."

Finishing her tea, Fusako unfolded her umbrella and stood. "And I will not hold it against any that need the coffee for more than the taste. It was a nice little drink Daigotsu-sama, but I should get going. Arigato for your time."

He stood up and offered her a proper bow. "Indeed it was, always happy to get to know someone knew, and an ally is always a boon. Will I be seeing more of you, perhaps?"

"Perhaps." She gave a coy look at that. "Next time somewhere less oderous?"

With that she turned and made her way off.

The Spider watched her go, appreciating the style.

That, is a lot to handle.
