Hoshiko watched Moriko with a smile. She knew her sister was disappointed by her performance, but she was still proud of her. Hoshiko had little hope of completing the event, much less doing well in it.

Accordingly, she volunteered to join the other Phoenix healers tending to anyone wounded.

Most of Atsumori's remaining holofootage of the morning's adventures was, of necessity, autopilot drone video--he could keep up with the sentinel course, more or less, but certainly not while also manipulating the camera. On the auto setting, the little camera drone followed its owner's short-range comm signal at a roughly preset distance, capturing a slightly jerky montage of the energetic Phoenix making potshots at targets--most of which hit, if not spectacularly--sprinting down rough trails, and taking numerous undignified tumbles down the branches and stems of fungal "trees."

"Whew! These mushrooms are slipperier than they look, eh?" Atsumori bounced upright up after yet another fall at the finish line, picking several tiny mushroom caps and one small lizard out of his hair. He was covered in mud, sweat, and fungal slime, and looked... absolutely thrilled, ready for another ri or two of slogging through malodorous jungle. "Oh, is that the end, then? Hello there, everyone!"

Waving cheerful greetings, he went to join the rather large group of participants who'd finished well before him.

Jumping across rooftops as Hummingbird was one thing, and a dance routine another... but running across a swampy aired fungus world for kilometer after kilometer was something less pleasant altogether. Tenma tried her best to not let it get to her, but her muscles were screaming at her by the end.

Still, it only meant a grumpy red-headed Scorpion and one missed shot at the target range, so it could have been much worse.

Mumei was well aware of her deficiencies in this arena. Rather than burden the healers with more injuries, she volunteered to assist if they would have her and her connection to the water kami.

The biathlon was the sort of endurance event that Koseki could get into. You had to be tough and prepared to work long days once you found a suitable ore seam. Of course it was a bit different for the Firefly to be surrounded by so much nature.

Thanks to his natural resilience the long journey didn't bother him in the slightest. He tried a bit too hard to impress his hosts and only landed one hit, precise though it was.

The climb through the fungal forest was hard on a lover of low-R environments. Still, he didn't fall, and managed most of the climbing with an efficient if not elegant style.

He wasn't going to win any accolades but was pretty pleased he hadn't come in dead last, or been medevaced.

A business man had no business on this field of soldiers but he had something to prove. He might not be built up as or talented in the arts of a warrior but damnit was he going to show that he had a place among the rest. With a heart full of burning spirit the young slender crab took to the course roar all throughout the first stretch... Then quickly becoming winded.

Trial after trial was nearly failed until he would finally hit his mark triumphantly at the final chance. Nearly slipping to a long fall didn't deter him as he finally defeated the course. A far less of an impressive showing than many of his peers but one that he was proud of.

The Biathalon. Technically, she should do okay... Except that it involved climbing and the wilderness and she had spent her entire life on a ship.

But no Daidoji was going to be called a quitter when it was a matter of pure toughness. So she trekked out to the wilderness with everyone else, the long journey doing little to tire her or trouble her cheerful spirit. She had water and sun protection, so it was no problem.

She did all right in the shooting, managing to take down two of her targets without any major problems and only missing the third by a hair's breadth.

The climbing... Her eyes followed the fungal stalks up... and up... The climbing would be more of a problem. She did her best, even managing to get up a little bit and not manage to crash horribly into the ground and break her leg. However, the fact that she didn't go to the hospital was about the only thing she could say for it.

It was good enough for now. She took it away as a learning experience in the end.
