He understood it wasn't her job. he also understood that a courtier would have less fun in an aircraft fighting a battle.

The issue was he had to fill both warrior and courtier role in his own duties and honestly he wasn't great at either, still learning the finer points. At least he had a lovely bunch of droogs that weren't bad at shooting to back him up.
