"True. If they keep bringing us out here..." she smirked. "We'll have at least a bit of an advantage. Know thy enemy and all that." There was a small laugh, then she looked to Hyeon-ju. "What is your world like?"

"Nothing at all like this," she said with a shake of her head. "Castle of Winds is a space-station, orbiting the planet of Golden Fields. Castle of Winds is more or less what you can expect from orbital-castles... Golden Fields on the other hand... is quite different from this. Tall mountains, wild plains. It's mostly an agricultural world where it has been settled, though there's still some wilderness and nature left untouched there."

But it was nothing like giant mushrooms and megafauna. Had to go to a different planet for that.

"What about you? What's your homeworld like in comparison?"

"That sounds incredible. No matter what happens, I think I'd like to see it." At the question of her own town, she laughed a bit. "Matsu Prime is largely a mining structure. Mostly mountains and the like, and ultimately not a very attractive planet." She laughed a bit. "I did not get to spend much time after my early childhood there, I was sent away for training pretty young."

"Hmm... I suppose a lot of Unicorn worlds have maintained a lot of the wilderness, so in that regards more similar to what we see here."

She looked over at Ishiyo. "What about you, Daidoji-sama? What about your homeworld? What sort of pretty little gilded cage do the Crane have in store for your potential partner?"

Ishiyo winces at the mention of a gilded cage, some of her fears landed close to that statement. "You assume I will not be married out." The Crane rubbed her cheek. "Though that possibility seems unlikely."

"But I come from Miyabi, though fatheh's factories are on Harusame. My family's estate was on the southern continent. Nestled against a mountain range with beautiful views and carefully cultivated forests. Though I spent some time at fatheh's compound in the capital city on Miyabi. The whole city has been carefully laid out to be pleasing to the eye, from every possible way it can be viewed. An elegant mixture of ancient and modern architecture."

She blushes, "My clan actually offers appointments to those who have earned the Crane's favoh as a gift."

"Sounds nice", the Chuui commented. Crane worlds though, he could only really imagine. "Honestly I wouldn't mind any of them, not that I wouldn't prefer home."

"What's your home world like, Daigotsu-sama? I've heard some about different worlds from the other Spiders I've talked to, but I would like to hear about yours too."

It was polite to include everyone. Though she was looking around for a decent spot to eat their lunch.

"Well, a long time ago my clan sterilized a lot of worlds. I live on one of those, but as it's been a centuries since, Kobushi looks like a pretty normal place. Trees, rocks, grass, hills, some really stubbornly tough animals, clean water", he shrugged. "Can't say i come from some harsh hell world with ghosts everywhere, or some oppressive mining world. The land my family runs produces a lot of rice and corn. Mostly for peasant and livestock consumption, but we have a few paddies reserved for sacramental rice, like what you use in weddings, hemppuku ceremonies and the like. No one's allowed to eat it." He chuckled a little. "Honestly it's a nice place to live if you can handle a bit of the rural style."

"Huh."

That was a bit of a surprise. "Actually sounds kind of nice." Compared to the other Spider worlds she had heard about.

"Anyone see a good place for a sit-down for lunch?"

"Just make sure you don't sit on a 2 meter centipede or kick a mega-hornet nest", he shrugged. "Other than that anywhere we won't have to eat through a gas mask is fine as long as there's shade."

He also looked around.

Ishiyo pointed toward a shaded area not far from the ornithopter, "Perhaps over there? No centipedes I can see, or otheh nests."

"Daigotsu-sama's home does sound different from the otheh stories I have heard of the Spider worlds. My own family does not own any farms...just a few gardens for decorative purposes and some fruit orchards." Of course her family's wealth was also not tied into the lands it owned.

As Ishiyo pointed out a spot, Chiyoko approached it carefully. She took the time to do a quick sweep, just to make sure that there weren't imminent murder-centipedes. Satisfied, she motioned the others over. "This should be fine, yeah." And at that, she set down the HAR and stretched out her arms. Damn, that thing was heavy.

he shrugged to Ishiyo's comment about Spider planets. "It's an old world, one of the first taken and it's had time to heal and be tamed, cultivated...it wasn't always like that." He found a place to sit down and kept himself at the edge of the group as he lit a cig, still in his shades.

He had a clear picture in his head of his land, it wasn't something to easily forget when you grow up there, he supposed.

He wondered how his brother was doing, still stuck around there, too young to go to the dojo still.

"Looks great," she nodded approvingly, removing her mask as they settled in at the spot.

Opening her backpack, lunch was presented to the others with a pair of cheap chopsticks for each. Clearly something from a konbini but not the cheapest there.

"I guess this is a picnic of sorts then... food outdoors, admiring nature."

Ishiyo smiled as the place proved acceptable. She sat her own rifle down and shifted her armor, "This....is very hot and uncomfortable." She taped the chest portion of her armor. It was unlike most of her clothing somewhat ill-fitting.

As the food is handed out she accepts one with a polite, "Thank you." But waits to eat until everyone is ready.

"It is a kind of surreal beauty though," She adds looking up, "Different from the cultivated beauty back home. Even the 'natural' areas had a feel of being sculpted back on Miyabi."

He leaned in and grabbed a bento box with chopsticks.

"And keep it higher than your lap, you won't feel the bugs on your armor and I doubt any of you want to share your meal with the locals out here", he said and broke the chopsticks open as well.

"Thank you," Chiyoko finally sets down the HAR, ensuring it wasn't pointed at anyone in case of accidental discharge. She seated herself, taking the food offered to her and bowing her head in thanks. Then she smirked gently. "This is much better than I'm used to in the field."

"Ration packs?" Ishiyo's nose curled up at the memory of when she had to eat one. "I heah some of them are not bad. You just have to get the right one."

She stuck out her tongue, "I have not had one of those mythical good ones."

"The Shrimp Tempura is alright. I wouldn't call it good, per se. But it is the most edible of things at least." She started with her rice, taking small bites before speaking again. "If they tasted like this, though, I'd never need leave," her smile was wry, tone teasing.

"Can never go wrong with the curry rations. They are at least edible. But it also helps to bring your own spices to make it better. Can't tell what it's made of if it burns your tongue, you know," Hyeon-ju smirked as they swapped stories. Or rather, experiences.

She at least seemed at ease in her armored flight-suit, which fit her rather well. As most things did. Though Hyeon-ju seemed like the type who could put on a burlap-sack and somehow make it fashion. Or at least
accessorized enough.

"This food is at least better than anything I would be able to make on my own. Unless you count heating up the water for the ration-pack to be cooking."
