(posting up before I have to sleep so it's available when the LA Ascension thread resolves. If team Shiba )

The little ATV bounces up the road and finds its way as close as Mumei thinks they can get without risking an accident. Throwing it into park and killing the ignition, she listens for a moment. "OK...I don't see massive destruction yet. That's a good thing, I guess."

Tsugiharu nods.

"One does tend to appreciate these moments, when one is uncertain how many more of them they shall receive." he said, watching out the windows.

With the engine off, Izumi opens a window and leans pretty much half of himself out to listen to the forest.

In the clearing at the location Moriko had given them, the three Shiba and their creepy friend were watching over their captives. On the ground, hands bound, were two priests and two shrine maidens, and another priest was lying on the altar in the recovery position, apparently stoned out of his gourd. The sticky polymers of webgun ammunition has long since biodegraded, but most of those present showed telltale signs of a firefight. There was a tense, apprehensive feel to the air.

Atsumori spun warily around when he heard the ATV's engine approaching... then relaxed as he recognized the brightly colored head sticking out the passenger window. It was a different color than last time, but it still couldn't be other than Kitsune-sama.

Hollering a greeting seemed out of keeping with the occasion, but he did wave to the vehicle crew.

The wave was enough for Izumi. For one precarious moment it looked like he was about to throw himself out of the window, before he realised it would strip off half his equipment. There was a brief moment of wrestling with the door handle . . . then he turned it the other way, opened the door and hopped out. He crossed the distance between them remarkably quickly for one so small.

"Wereyouintime? Isanyonehurt?"

Mumei waves, realizes that's not super visible with the glare on the windows, cracks the door open, and waves again. She doesn't really want to shout, but the Fox is doing it for her, so..."

"We are mostly fine, I think." Hoshiko answered. "But, they will need some medical attention."

The Obsidian Magistrate remained in a tense posture, but there was an easy smile. He did seem to remain close to Moriko.

"Sofew?"

Izumi looked surprised at the number of cultists.

"Iexpectedmore . . . "

Mumei nods. "I'd expected...more to draw power from" She walks over to the stoned priest, peering at his wide eyes and waving a hand in front of them. "He may not be coming back for a while."

________
(headed to work shortly, but Mumei's main medical attention option is PTIP, was leaving examining folks to the folks with actual medicine training.)

Izumi hauled out his medkit and stared at the captured cultists.

"AnypreferenceonwhichoneIstartwith?"

The question was aimed generally at the twins, although Izumi did seem to be checking Atsumori for injuries despite what he'd been told.

"This was just the preparation," Moriko explained, "we weren't going to give them the chance to start the ritual if it could be helped." She waited expectantly, letting the shugenja address the wounded before hitting them with the information Ryuu had revealed.

Elder Priest Ken is near death (35 wounds, if I count correctly).
Younger Priest is uninjured.

"They had something in mind for him, as well." Hoshi gestured to Saneyuki. "We overheard the elders plotting something bad for him."

Well that decided things for Izumi then. The one they had singled out for bad things got attended to first.

"Oh, I'm completely fine, Kitsune-sama. No worries. Guess I'm just hard to hit." Atsumori grinned, then sobered a bit. "Yeah, we couldn't take 'em all out without inflictin' some casualties, sorry to say. And, hm."

He trailed the Fox over to Saneyuki, out of whom the Shiba Crew had not managed to extract one whit of coherent verbiage so far. "We don't actually know what they were doing with this poor bloke, besides the general. Those two priests were jawing about something when we interrupted, but I don't think they'd gotten started yet." He ran a hand through his hair, dislodging a fungal twig caught there during his charge through the woods. "Speaking for myself, I'd really appreciate if you priest sorts could have a look round, see if you can tell whatever they were up to. And whether we really stopped it properly. "

OOC: Atsumori has 0 wounds. Ryuu still has a few, but I think is Healthy? And Moriko may have some?

One of the miko (Hana) and the boss priest guy are badly injured, the other miko and priest were only webbed up.

"Our playmates here have ties to the Lord Magistrate." He indicated specifically to the younger of the priests. "Given that, handing them over to that office will accompish nothing. Shiba Moriko-san had the excellent idea of going to the governor."

Tsugiharu frowned a bit. That was an awful lot of Phoenix orange about, both standing and on the ground. And in the middle of it was one rather obvious splash of black and white.

Tsugiharu shook his head. That man's thirst for hot sauce was going to see him dead before wed. He started typing a message on his communicator.

He'd let the lovable Fox play doctor. The Phoenix had made it quite clear they did not want the Spider involving themselves in local matters. As far as Tsugiharu was concerned, that extended to healing those in orange. Let them go to their own doctors.

Mumei started toward the captives, pausing to absorb Ryuu's information. "Yeah, can't exactly just drive them in to the governor's mansion, though, can we?" She considers for a long moment, inspecting Hana's wounds, before speaking. "I don't suppose anyone has military encryption capable communicators then? Or just one less likely to be watched? I'd try getting a line through Asako Chiruha, but...I'm a bit wary of who might be listening in on mine. I'm already in trouble for 'spreading vicious rumors,' and 'inciting something or other."

Tugging out her battered holoslate, she calls upon the plentiful water kami to ease the wounds of the captured. It was compassionate. More pragmatically, they'd taken matters into their own hands, and were right to do so, but she'd seen how bringing unpleasant truths to light was rewarded here. No sense letting people bleed out and adding dead locals to the mix. First the miko (Hana?), and then the old man, assuming everyone was well secured.
