Built on a cliff overlooking the great Murkwater lake, the Shrine to Mori no Reiou is home to the esoteric and secretive Shinri sect. The sect is involved in Asakaze politics with several magistrates and one of the governor's karo hailing from the relatively small religious community. The adherents of the Shinri follow a particular variant of Tao that places great importance on one's connection with the nature and many of the sect's rites and rituals require the devoid to expose their bodies to the elements. The members of the sect tend to stick to their own, rarely initiating new members. The sect is as old as Asakaze, having been founded by Asako Chikage in the years following construction of Shiro Yoake. The current head of the sect is Asako Saneyuki, the great-great-grandson of Asako Chikage.

The shrine itself, built from black basalt mined from the cliffs, is a five story pagoda with a large hall build underground. A near by cave systems created by the extraction of the basalt serves as living and storage place for the small community living at the shrine. While anyone is free to visit the shrine itself, the hall and the communal spaces are off limits with burly lay monks clad in worn and faded yellow robes guarding the doors. A small stone basin filled with clean water stands by the entrance, wooden ladles allowing the devout to purify themselves before they enter.

The actual temple within the pagoda is rather simple with a large statue depicting the four armed Mori no Reiou taking most of the space, a series smaller statues depicting his servants and loyal followers flanking the nearly twelve foot tall humanoid figure clad in gilded cloak of leaf gold. Bearing a lantern glowing with soft yellow light the statue seems faceless, a draped cowl covering its features. The worn, wooden floor is covered with esoteric mandala that somehow seems to indicate where the faithful should prostrate themselves, the gibberish signs resembling kanji leaving a casual observed with a headache should try to figure out their meaning.

Location rules: On foot, it takes an entire time slot to travel to Shrine to Mori no Reiou. e.g. if you plan to spend Late Afternoon at the bay, you must use Early Afternoon and Early Evening slots to travel. If the character(s) have an access to a mount or vehicle the location can be reached more easily - no time slots need to be reserved for traveling.
