None are more known of their extensive and well-kept archives than the Phoenix, even if Ikoma might wish to dispute this claim.With the advent of digital technology storing vast amounts of data has become trivial and so the Phoenix have managed to fill their archives with both academic texts and prose.

The local head librarian and the self titled Loremaster of Asakaze, Asako Nagase is known for his pranks - often inserting works of satire and parody among the more serious works much to the dismay of the local scholars, often giving them misleading tags that he himself happens to find appropriate. Tenured and senile, there is little that can be done to remove the venerable scholar, his students doing their best to minimize the damage he can do. Delighted to put his mischievous nature into a proper use, Nagase has hidden dozens of parody titles in the scholarly archives, including works such as ‘Ruffled Feathers - 50 Ways to Piss of a Crane’ and ‘Misadventures of Yoritomo's Sack - The Incredible Story of the Largest Casino Ship Ever Built ’. Now the characters must draft a list of wrongly placed works to prove that they can handle the vast archives just as well as the Phoenix scholars themselves.

Magic: Magic is allowed though spells must be cast so that they cover the duration of the entire event, i.e. 3 hours. You can use multiple casts to achieve this as long as you have sufficient spell slots.

That doesn’t belong to the museum!
Characters have only a limited time to scour the archives, both physical and the digital. This time span is divided into four slots for the purposes of this event, allowing characters four rolls in total. For each roll the character may choose to go through either the physical or the digital archives - though each subsequent roll made at the same collection will have its TN increased by 5.

Characters wishing to comb through the physical archives must roll Investigation / Intelligence against TN 10. Success and each called Raise earns the character a Book point. Should the character fail the roll, they lose a Book point for each raise they called.

Characters wishing to comb through the digital archives must roll Use Computers / Intelligence against TN 15. Success and each called Raise earns the character a Book point. Should the character fail the roll, they lose a Book point for each raise they called.

Example: Kakita Kippei makes his first roll at physical archives at TN 10. His second roll at physical archives is at TN 15. Next he rolls for digital archives. Since he has not rolled for digital archives yet, he starts at TN 15. After that, he can go back to physical archives (TN 20 as it is his 3rd roll there) or stay at digital archives (TN 20 as it is his second roll there)

But then he tries to get too precise. Finding "101 Ways to Plant Mushrooms" in the section marked for music, turned out to be an esoteric folk song. '108 shades of crimson' is definitely not in the right section. The exploits of a Yogo magistrate and his lewd adventures were not fit for the Natural World section. Easy peasy.

Looking over the digital archives he noticed something odd. There was Jungle Warrior 1, 2 and 4, but no 3? Where could it be? Ah...there it was, under Great Wrestling Persona-s.

Next he scoured the library once again, under Geography, and everything seemed to be in order. Large Tracts of Land Collection was an odd name, but well, geography.

Finally, another round at the digital archives, and he tsk-ed as the Tao of Shinsei's Asakaze version was put under 'Fungal Dangers'. What a weird topic.

This seemed like a total waste of time for Nara. She didn't understand the point of it all. Finding books? Why? It was a waste of what seemed like a nice attire however it's what the hosts asked for.

This was the challenge Satoru had been waiting for he had studied the library and had spent tons of time there so far this trip. When he set to his task he quickly found a few pparody titles in the history section and one rather ironically placed book on the Spider.

He then delved into the online catalog coming up with nothing he grit his teeth and used some less than obvious back door routines to find recently changed entries netting a few more for his list. However the computer was fated to not be his best route as when he tried to dive deeper he could find nothing and wasted precious time.

the list he submitted was adequate, he despised adequate.

"Oh good, they have computer archives." Tetsu had shuddered at the thought of spending all day touching paper instead of a keyboard. That joy is short lived as the out of date system crashes the moment he turns it on. As a proper Crab, he immediately begins "percussive maintenance" by slapping the machine, only for an angrier error message to pop up. Tetsu slaps it again, this time loosening a power cord and causing the entire bank of computers to go down.

"Whoops...I guess it's time for the stupid paper?" Tetsu gets a few things, but overall it's an overwhelming failure.

Funny books hidden in the stacks? HA no match for the great Investigative Fox. He whizzed off into the depths of the library at speed the moment the briefing ended. He had an advantage few had here . . . he could see the bottom shelves without bending over!!!!!

A mere minute in he had located the extra thin volume of 'Dragon Jokes Not about Roof Tiles' hiding in the sake brewing section. More hunting turned up a dog eared copy of 'How to coordinate your outfit with your tetsubo - a fashion primer for non Yasuki Crab Samurai' amongst prayer wheel maintenance guides.

The next one took a bit more time as 'Hot Hotaru! Ore smelting through the ages' was in the high fashion archive and he'd assumed at first that that title belonged there . . . Several more volumes were spotted as he zipped through the many shelves groaning under the weight of knowledge on them.

Feeling a lack of caffeine after over two hours of hunting books, he decided to spend his last few minutes searching on the computerised archives. A wide smile came to his lips as he found 'Foxy Business - the rise and fall of the Kitsune Long Candy Empire' which he knew to be a total parody of the real Kitsune Hard Candy Co.

He turned in his list feeling fairly happy with himself.

Tsugiharu had spent quite a bit of time in the library, and had felt the pain and frustration of not being able to find useful information time after time again. So a chance to get back at the Phoenix who had so poorly run this library was quite appealing.

Being a miai, he started off at a shelf in the romance section. He looked, and he looked, but it seemed to all be in order.

He was just about to move on, when he had a sudden insight. There was one book that had just a little bit of tape on it in an odd spot. He picked up, 'Great Loves of the Yogo Family', and pulled off the tape to reveal, 'Grate Loves of the Yogo Family." A quick scan confirmed...it was a book about building sewer grates in Yogo holdings.

Realizing the Phoenix were playing dirty yet again, Tsugiharu held back just a bit, which was a very good thing indeed as he almost missed 'Heroes of the Rebellion' slipped behind some legitimate historical accounts of heroes of the Empire. 'Heroes of the Rebellion' however was a psychiatric study of people who thought it was 'honorable' to rebel against the Empire. It belonged in medical texts.

He exercised a bit too much caution, perhaps. He found a listing for 'Sparrows and Weasels' filed under Biology. But that was a dark fantasy book about an entire village of murderous, dishonorable Sparrow.

His eyes were getting tired at this point. This library was ticking him off a bit. He found a listing for, 'It's My Job to Kill Them.' filed as a murder mystery. That was a treatise on Risk vs. Reward game theory, which might be a mystery to some people, but that didn't make it a murder mystery.

Then she set foot in the other sections. Sections without such easy to grasp hints. Sections where she actually had to read the books to recognize them as fake or not.

Well, she had put on an appearance at the event to please their Phoenix hosts, time to go now.
