Her eyes pop open at the scuttling, pupils slightly dilated in the filtered light. "Hooo, they grow the bugs big here! Yubei safe, Usagi-san? That thing looks like it might like a bit of him."

"Ooooooobigbug!!!!!"

He stepped away from the fungal stalk, attention completely changed.

"Acentipede . . . millipededependingonhowmanylegs."

The centipede ignored the humans, happily chewing on decaying trunk, its many joints clicking.

"I'm not taking the time to count them all. Centimillipede, then." Mumei steps closer as well for a look. "Does it bite?"

The smooth segment fitting together in that long sinuous drape were mesmerizing. They paid good money for that effect in a necklace or scarf some places.

"Spider courtiers would wear that as a necklace in a heartbeat."

Keeping one eye on the creature he placed a hand casually on his sidearm. The smell was heavy in the air, but not unpleasant. Just...different.

"So. This...bug. What does it do, exactly?"

Izumi was pretty much specialised in flora . . . more than fauna, but he took a closer look.

After a brief look he stood up.

"It'sjustabottomfeeder. Eatsupthedecayingfungi. Won'tbotherusunlesswebotherit . . . andthenit'llprobablyrun."

He looked at his fellow Alliance members.

"Not a threat. Justdon'tpokeit."

D1 Does FOXEH KNOW EVERYTHING??? Int/Lore:Nature TN 15: 3d10 21

She wants very much to stroke the smooth exoskeleton. But scaring it that way would be cruel. Instead, she fishes a frayed-around-the edges holoslate, and crouches down as she scrolls through the symbols that mean little to those outside her school. "Should have rented some of those UV visors from the gardens. Wonde what this one looks like with them."

He blinked.

"UVvisors?"

Mumei got a questioning look.

Mumei nods. "They had a sign up about them when I went by this morning, something about the stuff growing there looking different in UV ranges,"

She rolls a ball of forest loam in her fingers, lifting it to sniff, then stands. Her eyes widen as she feels the waver at the edge of her vision kicking in and really wishes she had the visors. The forest would probably look exceptionally surreal with the combination. "Might mean some of the critters here can see it without extra goggles."

Her head tilts slowly as a question occurs. "hmmm, were you surprised by the visors being around, or...not sure about UV, Kitsune-san?" No...she still hasn't remotely picked up on the Fox's status. He's just another fun miai hopeful, right? Who can afford the better part of a vehicle rental.

"Ijusthadn'tconsideredthatthefaunaorfloraheremightbeUVreactive."

He looked at the scuttling centipede.

"Itmakessensethough. Plentyofanimalscanseeintorangeswecan't."

That was venturing more into the Firefly's territory. "Makes sense. There're plenty of minerals that transmit or reflect light or other radiative energy distinctively in wavelengths we can't see. It's an easy way to tell some of the rarer ones apart. Especially when you're deep in an asteroid field."

He shrugged and started to look in his pockets for a lighter and smokes. "I guess if life forms are made of different materials we should see the same sorts of things."

Mumei offers a lopsided smile, petting the nearby trunk. "Some just call different parts of the kami to themselves. Stone is even more choosey, since they're around for so long."

Izumi grinned.

"Moreliketoostubborntochange."

Giggling, Mumei nods. "ohhh, Kitsune-san is familiar with the slow shift of stones, I see."

Koseki gave them a sly grin. "I like stones. They rock."

Without chuckling at his own hilarious pun Koseki walked over to the Hare and then on a bit further to the base of a giant mushroom. At least it looked kind of like one. With a shrug he tapped the trunk...stem...stalk...support structure, with a small rock hammer.

"So Usagi-sama. You're a drop trooper? Seen much action?"

He looked upwards. The Shroom seemed pretty robust. His mind briefly filled with structural equations.

Mumei stops a moment, looks hard at the Hotaru, and giggles even harder as she drops unceremoniously to sit at the base of her fungal tree, listening to the clacking of the unbothered centimillipede nearby.

"Maybe some stone cold action," she mutters between giggles.

Dang, nobody'd been making jokes nearby the last times she tried this stuff. If the city had any comedy shows, she definitely knew what she was taking to one of those.

Gentle winds bring a smattering of spores that cling to the ground and the trees as well as clothing, the small pale yellow muck shimmering in the air. Inevitably, some of the spores end in noses and mouths, annoying the mucous membranes. Some of the small lizards hanging on the stalks scurry away from the spores as if they knew something...

Mumei wrinkles her nose before an explosive sneeze, then lifts one hand, examining the spores clinging there.

She looks up at the gills of the giant mushrooms. "Heeey guys, guys...if it's one of those big 'uns releasing these," she holds up her hand coated with the golden spores, "it could get real thick here real fast. I'm...I think I'm heading back to the cart to see if this blows over. Gas mask might be good if you got one...but Yubei's too small for one."

Jin seemed lost in thought, the smart people around him tuned out for a moment. "Some, aye." He eyed the Osprey. "Stone cold...sure." He recalled his last drop, and a small shiver went through his body. "Dropping into enemy territory, your dropship blown to pieces, barely holding together to get most of your squad down in one piece, being surrounded on all sides, shooting, slashing, running through the front nearest to you to get out and get over to friendlies."

His voice dropped low as he spoke.

"Some action, neh."

At the shower of spores Izumi looked up.

"Ohthesecouldbedangerous."

Dangerous enough that even the Fox sauntered back from under the fungal cap. He held up a hand.

"Whichwayiswindblowing? Upwindisbestrightnow."

Or in the ATV, but that hadn't come to mind immediately to outdoorsy Fox.
