There was supposed to be a Fantasy Fight tournament in a couple of days... and well, Hyeon-ju had never played, but she had the cash to burn to get herself a full deck and console. The salesperson at the mall had convinced her to pick up one of those Tournament-Winning Decks.

Not that it meant a whole lot to her. Her wallet was just a little lighter.

With a shopping bag over one hand, the Unicorn stopped by the bakery, figuring she'd pick something up for her roommates. And award herself with some snacks for a good showing in the hunt today. Ryuu would probably need some consolation-mochi.

Bubble-tea in hand, she waited for her order.

Ishiyo was likewise looking for a snack, blissfully unaware in the next few hours she would receive enough blunt force trauma to leave her near crippled.

Concerned at first with the offerings it was not until Ishiyo looked to her right that she saw a familiar Utaku in line ahead of her. "Oh, Utaku-san. Good to see you again." At the moment the Crane pilot was in her civilian clothes again. Fashionable enough but probably a bit plain...even if it was clearly expensive. Her eyes drop to the bag, "Oh, I hope I am not disturbing you."

The Unicorn turned to greet the Crane, bowing politely. "Pee...Daidoji-sama," she corrected herself quickly.

She herself was dressed to impressed, with a heavily embellished top underneath her leather jacket, and loose-fitting harem pants. The high waist of the pants gave some decency but it still showed off some of her toned stomach.

"No, it's no disturbance. I was just picking up something to bring back to the room for the others after my shopping. How are you?"

Ishiyo cocked her head slightly at the outfit, even the modest display of skin was unusual for the traditional Crane. "Oh...pretty well actually," Her smile returned. "And I am glad, I had worried you were busy...well busieh. Shared duty with you-eh room mates oh a random act of Courtesy?"

"How have you been since we last spoke?"

"The day moves in bursts of busy and not busy - it is calm now," she assured Ishiyo. "And of course, it is courtesy. I know they will make sure they themselves are fed, but it is polite to share with one's roommates."

And the bigger batches of baked goods were cheaper than the smaller ones... so there was some selfishness there too.

"Good for me, I'd say. I feel like I did alright yesterday in the peace negotiations even for a subject outside of my training, and the hunt today went even better. I think I'll try some of that wrestling later, since it seems my luck is on a roll. What about you? Are you going to give it a try?"

Ishiyo frowns at the mention of the hunt, "Ah...well I did a lot betteh in the hunt then I expected. A friend did not do so well and I worry it will leave him distraught."

She recovers with a sigh, "Wrestling?" There is a confused look on her face, then a sudden realization, "OH! You mean that Crab thing like yesterday. I mean it looked more like a performance then a..." The Crane notices a glare from the cashier, "I mean it was a very real display of fighting prowess." Which was a blatant lie and completely obvious. Still the cashier looked satisified.

"They are letting people try it out yes? Seems a bit..." Her eyes flicked to the cashier, "...too difficult...for someone like me."

"Like the show yesterday, yes," Hyeon-ju nodded. "I heard they're doing two groups; one advanced and one for beginners."

She took a sip of her bubble tea. "Who's the friend in question?"

"Just a friend," Ishiyo smiles nervously, "Oh which are you trying foh? The advanced oh basic? And I am a bit surprised that sort of thing interests you. Utaku-san does not strike me as a hand to hand combatant."

"Advanced. Figured it can't hurt to give it a try, and Basic sounds too boring."

She thoughtfully sipped her straw, not pressing the issue on whoever this friend was. "When arriving here, I promised to myself that I would be a good guest of our host and participate in all the entertainment and contests they were arranging for us. It must take a lot of work and money to make all this happen for us, so it is the Courteous thing to do."

Ishiyo laughs nervously, "I see...I suppose I should as well then, for courtesy's sake."

She looked out across the room, "Hmm...would you perhaps like to join me for a bit when ouh ordehs are filled? I had something I wanted to ask you about. Nothing serious but you might actually find it enjoyable."

"Oh? Of course, Daidoji-sama." She was certainly curious now, but she gave an affirmative nod.

It wasn't hard to find a place to sit, and Hyeon-ju pointed out a vacant table nearby that was easily claimed by the two samurai-ko.

Ishiyo took a seat after collecting her sweets, "Well...to just start that particulah bit off. I was hoping we could have a meeting of all the pilots here." She smiles wide, "Now that I believe we have all met individually. As I am sure given you-eh requirements for a spouse you have spoken to Akodo-sama, and you room with Kuni-san."

"Mm, I was actually taking with Cricket about that earlier today. Sounds like it would be a good thing. Maybe we could go for karaoke or something the day after tomorrow? Make sure everyone have their schedule open for it?"

She at least seemed receptive of the idea.

"Oh! Yes...that would be a lot of fun!" Ishiyo smiled happily, then her smile grew more nervous, "...what is karaoke?"

"It's hmm... like a singing-game of sorts. You try to follow the lyrics to a song that is played as you sing it for the others gathered." She gave Ishiyo a surprised look. "You guys don't do that with your squadrons on the off-time?"

"So like a recital?" Ishiyo cocked her head, "I guess I am an OK singeh."

"Oh no...well I guess some of the otheh squadrons did or maybe my own did and the just neveh invited me. I said I was not very well liked until after I made Ace."

"Err... something like a recital, yes," not quite but close enough. "I see... well, for us it's part of the socialising we do. Socialising and spending time doing activities together is good groundwork for team-building and creating a sense of connection within the unit."

She felt a bit sorry for the Crane if she had been left out of such gatherings.

"I see..." Ishiyo nodded, "I mean we operated as a unit in the air it was just on the ground. But maybe I will get invited to more things now."

"So then we get in touch with everyone and see about setting up this karaoke session? Sounds like there is probably a location for it in town no?"

"There's one here, yes. I've heard the Governor is an avid fan of it, so I'm not too surprised to hear that they have it."

Poor girl. She seemed as frozen out as Koryn had been excluded by bullying. Maybe the two could find some common ground there.

"I must warn that I'm not a great singer myself, but I've heard it said by some that karaoke is to be enjoyed no matter how good one is. I know Yul-san likes it a lot." Not that he had any talent either. "No idea about Akodo-sama, but I think he's probably participated before too with his unit."

"I have no formal training in it myself," Ishiyo takes a breath and tries some wordless practice notes like she had learned a long time ago as a child. It was not unpleasant but her lack of formal training definitely showed. She blushed a little after realizing a few people were looking at her confused.

"...anyway, may I ask how you-eh search for a spouse is going? My own has proven more complicated then I expected."
