Sitting in a chair pulled off to the corner of one of the tables Ichika leaned onto one of those uncomfortable pillows allotted for the guests. It wasn't comfortable like she was used to but it was something to curl around. With a page laid out in front of her she started thinking, tapping a pen to her lower chin.

With a quick glance she looked to the densai just to her left but.. no, back to the page, blank as it was it wouldn't do to keep it empty like that. Not when she felt so much that she had to get down onto the page.

Trotting into the common room was a certain blonde Matsu. She was dressed, as usual, in her service uniform, stretching a moment as she looked around the common room with a loud yawn.

Looking up from her page she found a distraction in the person who'd walked in. It wasn't someone she knew, and she didn't want to be assumptive, so Ichika elected for merely a nice wave to the Matsu.

The wave caught her attention. So she approached and bowed. This person seemed Crane, which meant contestant. "Good evening," she spoke, a surprisingly soft voice for a Matsu. "I hope you are doing well? I am Matsu Chiyoko, and I hope I am not interrupting you at all."

"Not at all Matsu-sama!" she said with some mirth, despite the hour. Carefully getting up out of her chair in the case of any early sleepers.

Bowing to the woman she rose with a smile, "I'm Doji Ichika! I'm also doing well, thank you for asking Matsu-sama. You are as well I hope? Also, did you wanna sit with me?" she indicated the chair just beside her or in front of her.

"It is a pleasure, Doji-san," she bowed her head, "And please, I'm not your -sama most certainly."

She sat down in the chair. "I hope it was not presumptuous of me to assume you were part of this miai."

"Not at all," she said with a smile. Ichika reclaimed her own, pulling her legs up so she could sit on it more than in it. Squishing the uncomfortable pillow between her crossed legs and chest. All the while she was dressed down in cozy nightwesr.

"I hope it's alright that I assume you are too? Seeing as you're asking Matsu-sama?" she said with a soft grin.

"It's a pretty safe assumption," she nodded with a small laugh. "How've you been finding it so far?"

"Amazing.." she said with a little exasperation. "Honestly, I didn't think it would be like any of this at all for me," she said, brushing her cheek and adjusting her eye-patch a moment. Shifting to settle into her chair afterward with a small laugh.

"How about you, Matsu-san?" she asked, leaning into the pillow sat in her lap a little as she asked.

"Outside is pretty nice," she laughed a bit. "But much of it reminds me of what is normal. Just with a bit of a Phoenix bint," she shook her head. "Though field work involves less nine foot centipedes."

"Oh! I saw some of the outside too," she said, a giggle covered up quickly by a hand. "I didn't see anything crazy like that but I did see some really beautiful butterflies," she said, a bright smile as she remembered it. "Though we had some.. plant stuff blow at us and stick really well, had to come back here to change," she said with a little frown.

"What's your home like if it's not much different than here, Matsu-san?" she asked, raising a brow.

"The flora and fauna are rather unique. Matsu Prime is a Mining planet, so from that perspective it's rather different. I more talk about the... atmosphere. The bunking situation reminds me entirely of military life, and these competitions are like military drills. It is not exactly what I was expecting."

"Definitely has been a Miai to counter expectations," she said with a light laugh. "Well.. at least I 'spose that means you're a bit more used to everything yea? Gives you a leg up to show yourself off to potential spouses?"

"Something like that," she shook her head. "I'll admit, I'm still a bit disappointed I missed a shot during the biathalon today."

"You'll always be able to make up for it next time, yea?" she said with a helpful smile, leaning in. Glancing at her page for a moment she thought instead to tidy it up, shift it off to the side a bit.

Shifting the pillow out from under her chest she corrected how she sat, "Speaking of though," she said with a smile. "Would you be alright with me asking you a couple invasive questions Matsu-san?"

"Of course," she nodded to Ichika. "We're here to learn about each other, after all."

With a bright smile, she said, "What are you looking for in a spouse then, Matsu-san?" she smiled again, a little less though as she tiled her head to the right.

It was easier this time, it being the second time she's been asked today. "They should be honorable, first and foremost. What is good for the Clan should always be taken into consideration." And then, a small smile. "For other traits, however. Confident in all actions. Smart and assured, sure in what they want. And I think being fashionable would be quite the plus as well."

"Oooo," she said, raising a brow as she smiled brightly. Bringing her hands flat together, "That sounds like a wonderful person, Matsu-san!

"Let us hope that one's ideal proves reality," she let out a small laugh. "But what of you? What sort of person would Doji-sama consider to be their perfect spouse?"
