Going on with her totally normal day, cause nothing special had happened in the morning that was for sure, Akemi kept to her (chaotic) schedule by turning up to the library for her (supposedly) daily studying session. And if someone asked, she could always stretch a bit since how long she had been there.

While going through the shelves, she looked quickly for interesting books on the local flora, but found nothing that wasn't an incomprehensible mess of scholarly words.

She finally sat with a copy of The Book of Sun Tao, her densai in hand, taking notes as she slowly progressed in her reading of the venerable, and often hermetic, text.

Her mind wasn't into it though, and her eyes wandered the room, looking at the other people there.

Mal-Chin came in to see if anyone at the Temple needed assistance. Everything scheduled for the miai today was outside of his wheelhouse. At the least, he could try and find something useful to do.

Akemi tilted her head at the newcomer:

"Excuse me Asako-sama... Haven't I already seen you somewhere?"

She frowned, trying to remember:

"Oh I know! You were seated with the miai participants at the wrestling event. And quite enthusiast."

A quick nod. "Hai! And we were both at the Temple of Kisada, the other day." He bows a bit. "Honor to meet you more formally, Hida-sama."

Akemi stood and bowed:

"Hida Akemi. Hida shock troops. Currently on special leave due to injury."

She raised her left hand as a demonstration of the later.

"Expected to return to service soon. Making the best of my downtime by partaking in this miai."

She waved at the book she was reading:

"Also trying to keep up with my training and my studies at the same time."

"Asako Mal-Chin, researcher and diplomatic attache." he bows in return. "Part of the miai as well."

"So Asako-sama how has this miai treated you so far? Do you think the other clans have sent great candidates to the Phoenix? Has any caught your eyes?"

She smiled:

"And what's your opinion on the fact most of us are very much struggling against the nature here, getting lost in the woods and attacked by animals, slipping on mushrooms and getting poisoned by flowers? We must kind of look like fish out of water to you."

"I admit, I wish I had gotten my survey out to more people ahead of time." He's slightly sorrowful at that. "More could've been forewarned."

"By and large I haven't seen anyone that would be called an embarrassment to their clan, and haven't had enough interaction to say who is great or otherwise. I haven't performed up to my normal standards myself, so the pressure can easily get to us."

He shrugs slightly. "Any that have caught your attention?"

"Several. This miai is not stingy with prestigious potential spouses though the competition is fierce to get the best ones. Including behind the screen."

She tilted her head:

"Survey? Also are there more surprises about this planet we should be warned about? Should we worry about people-eating mushrooms or something like that?"

A blink. "If you've got a densai handy, I can send you the information?"

"Uh... Sure?"

She unlocked her densai ready for a transmission.

He worked through his own, then found the unfamiliar Hida symbol and sent.

"I've got a site up that shares answers to the survey questions, should you send me yours. It'll gain you access to how others have answered so far. But specifically pertinent are the links to files on Asakaze and its flora. Or fauna, as it were."

Akemi played with the document for a few minutes before refocusing on the Asako:

"Uh... Isn't it weird to mix personal information questions with must-know about the planet? Wouldn't have it be simpler to have a generic welcome pack on one side and the advanced form on the other?

Also... The information about the dangers of the wild should probably be put more forwardly instead of being a sidenote of the otori question.

You also appear to be missing a few important information here. For example, from my understanding, some parts of the forest – and maybe other zones of the planet – are under a strict no access policy that newcomers should probably be warned about."

She softened her previous blows with a compliment:

"All in one it's a nice initiative that should probably be shared to all participants once the last details will have been ironed out. Did you ask your boss about that possibility?"

"I mostly took the initiative. And I admit, I figured there would be more warning given." He shrugs slightly. "I hadn't expected to give it out on the shuttle on the way down, and it didn't seem right to change it after that, for everyone else."

"You don't have the technology to push updates or addendum to those who already received it? Actual question, I have no idea how the network works here on Asakaze."

"Oh, I do. It took until today to get permissions to allow it to be shared on the network, as I programmed the site so that those who participate in the survey can see each others answers, as well as suggest questions."

"Okay. I will answer it later. Maybe.

Is this advanced computer stuff an active part of your duty or is it more of a hobby?"

"Part of what I do as an attache is to do research. Setting up information in an accessible way is part of that." He shrugged. "First time programming a database for others to access, the security protocols were intense. My hobbies with computers are more about making music."

"I think we have a few people into music at the miai too. There was some sort of musical performance at the Drunk’n Crab the other day but you'll have to ask Fundai Tetsu about it – I skipped it as it looked like it was going to be a sausage party.

What is your research subject if it is not computer proper then?"

"Primarily history, though history touches on nearly everything so I've learned to understand the process of research mostly. Figuring out how people think helps to understand how they will store information."
