Grave river, one of the most dangerous areas on the already ludicrously dangerous marriage convention hotspot that was Asakaze.

Only a few days ago a samurai had been killed on the river, consumed by some kind monster from the depths. Of course, that was why they were here.

Cool wind had made the trek through the jungle somewhat more bearable, but Shoan still preferred the recycled air under her helmet. Breathing your own sweat was probably better than a couple lungfulls of cyanide. Forewarned was forwarded, that was their advantage.

Turning back to the samurai who’d been willing to head out to somewhere this ominously named with the explicit goal of getting into a fight:

“How are we looking minna-san?”

The atv ride out here hadn't been the smoothest, and now that he was here is seemed like it would be a journey on foot through the muck, not that he had anything to really complain about. The Mantis was wearing his armor, his Marksman rifle slung and hand on his sidearm as he watched the area around them.

He wasn't sure how he felt seeing Shoan, but she had asked him to be here and since she had never told him otherwise he had shown up. Those were thoughts for other times though as he lifted his eyes towards the surrounding wetlands and replied. "Just glad I packed my water proof boots, Ikoma-san."

Ryuu drew the cloak in close around him. His rifle in hand, sidearm and daisho at his waist. His armor was fitted, and the Spider looked to the others. "As ready as one can be."

There was a slight movement of Hayato's hand towards his sidearm when the Spider spoke. Why Shoan had invited creepy boy along he couldn't tell. He wasn't gonna ask her either though.

Koseki finished his safety checks and nodded to Shoan. He hadn't been expecting the call, but perhaps his skills in the yojimbo event had been noted. That or the fact hed been out the day before looking for the drifter that had tried to eat Shinjo Yul. If he saw Hayato's move he didn't comment on it.

"All good here. Thanks for the invite."

“Each of you knows what you’re doing, so I don’t need to tell you your business.. Let’s just keep it tight, not do anything stupid and bring our target down. Afterwards drinks are on me.”
Her gaze flickers over them all, pausing on Hayato for half a moment before continuing on.

The wary Spider had noted the slight movement. It was apparently a common reaction, or common enough that he dismissed it mentally. He offered polite bows to the others, and finished checking his gear.

Rope. Check. Conelantern. Check. Recharge packs. Check. Communicator. Check.

Hayato nodded, and shifted his hand away from his sidearm to draw his own rifle. The glance from Shoan got a half smile but that was it.

"Sounds easy enough."

"Well, it's good to meet you Ikoma-san, Daigotsu-san. And to see you again Tsuruchi-san." The Mantis was the best shot at the miai from what he'd heard.

Everything was in place. With a bit of luck, and their combined skills, the drifter with a taste for human flesh was going down today.

"I've been reading up on drifter behaviour. Thought it might be useful." The Firefly rattled off a few useful bits of info about their typical attack patterns and records from survivor accounts.

"Let us begin." As the others finished checking their gear, Ryuu began to do what he supposedly did best. Finding the trail, the signs needed to hunt their game.

The Murame keeps her eyes peeled as the others track, her rifle slowly panning around them in case any ambush predators tried to get smart.

Hayato shifted his grip on his rifle letting the Spider take the lead. His own eyes peeled for anything that might go wrong.

"Good to see you again as well, Hotaru-san, and nice to meet you Daigotsu-san." He snirked. "I suppose i should say it's good to see you too Ikoma-san. I'm just trying to figure out whether you meant tea or soda water when you mentioned drinks though."

"Sounds like a party. I'll bring my drums." He kept his rifle up and followed the Spider as he did his work. At least it was a cooler day today.

"I guess that leaves me for the actual alcohol then." He jerked a thumb at the Spider. "And Daigotsu-san can bring the fried otori." If they even managed to find the thing.

"I am not good at frying otori." He replied with the slightest hint of a chuckle, though it seemed rather deadpan and off. "Much better on a grill." He continued his work.

"Not quite sure they'll want us cooking anything on the roof of the Wisteria, so best to order out, Daigotsu-san."

He glanced towards the man and raised an eyebrow. "Unless you want to cook it up beforehand."

Ryuu would eventually spot a large specimen swimming idly in the river, using its large tail to propel itself through the water. The beast was good 120' from the samurai and while they could open fire, chances were that the beast would only dive deep to escape. To ensure a kill, they would have to get closer.
