"IthinkIwill!!"

He wobbled over to the table, getting less dizzy with every step, acquired a skewer of said meat and wandered back already trying it.

"Ohthishashotsauceonit!!!!"

He did not look displeased at all.

There is no blue tent, but at least at the red there were a few familar faces.

"How was everyone's trip down?"

Yul raised his fist in a sort of lizard-skewer cheer. "Yeah, that's how it's done!" He said.

His eyebrows went up watching the reaction to the heat. "Does it? I haven't had any yet." He looked at his own skewer a moment, and then took a big bite...

...and then a gulp of sake.

"Yeah, that's something." Yul said. "But hey, I've had Moto food, so I can handle this. Seems like you can handle your spice, too."

The Kitsune's face was starting to approach the same colour as his hair as he chewed through more of the skewer.

"Ahthisjustkeepsgettinghotter!!!"

From his grin though, he liked it.

"Spicesandotheraromaticsareimportantinperfumemaking, Shinjo-san. Wedon'talwaysusethembuthavingthemaroundhas influenced our family cooking."

He slowed at the end, as the spice threatened to overwhelm him finally. Signalling for a servant and something to drink.

Yube notices the invite, and immediately jumps off towards the mysterious figure. "Ah, Bayushi-san, of course. Yube always like the attention." He smirked, holding his fungal sake in hand. "Ujina Jin, nikutai of the 101st Drop Trooper brigade, of the 1st Spaceborne Battalion." He gave a bow appropriate to the status of his conversation partner.

Yul had to pause a moment at the end of each sentence, but he tracked it, nodding. It was sorta like receiving a lot of telemetry all at once.

"Perfume making, huh? That's your family thing?" Yul gave a friendly nod. "Mine looks after farmland. I got my start flying the cropduster." He grinned. "Only crashed it once, and it didn't break, so it was really more of a high-impact landing."

He took another bite of lizard, and chased it with some more sake. "I like it." He murmured.

"KitsuneBiopharmaticals."

Then, probably realising that wouldn't explain everything.

"Medicines,perfumes,whateverelsewecanuseplantsfor. MommaFoxhopesIcanfindsomeonewithaccesstoevenmoreplantshere."

Again, the brief pause as Yul got the rapid-fire words sorted out. He nodded.

"Okay, that makes sense. Well, they've got something, huh?" Smirking, he waved the half-eaten lizard skewer.

He frowned thoughtfully. "Have you gotten much of a chance to take a look at the landscape here? Fungus everywhere. I don't know much about pharmaceuticals, but I bet that fungus has some stuff worth taking a look at."

The Vulpine Excitement Level ramped up to Level Three.

"Yes.Yes!!!Wentouttothefungalforestthisafternoon. Nopointwastingtimeisthere!!!! WeKitsunewouldjustlovesometradecontractshere."

It's hard to pick out the exact words of that the Kitsune is saying, but it seems that they are enjoying the food. Tetsu grabs a skewer of lizard meat, blowing on it to cool it down. He takes a small bite, feeling the spice wiping over his tongue, as a look of pleasure makes him grin.

"Dang, this is good." Tetsu takes a bigger bite, washing it down with the mushroom sake.

Shokomaru loosened his tie as he walked past the servants giving their cheerful welcome. He passed another and a cup appeared fron his inside breast pocket, which was filled deftly.

Then he advanced on the roasting lizard. He seemed pleased in a sardonic manner. Like he was relived to have such a scene.

He held up his index, middle finger and thumb, three skewers were passed to him and he went to find a table.

He gave a bow to the conversating samurai as he passed.

Blinking, Yul frowned as he sorted this out.

Then his eyebrows went up? "No kidding? How was it? How did you get there? What did you see?" Yul's mouth opened, then shut. He'd asked a lot of questions pretty quickly... but, well, turnabout seemed like fair play.

His following speech was illustrated with waving of the now empty lizard skewer.

"IhiredanATV. Needoneforthetoughterrainouthere. TookafewothermembersoftheAllianceoutwithme. Justtoget a close up of the big fungal stalks to start."

As he got more serious the speech slowed to something more like a normal person.

"Really impressive close up. A fungal analogue for almost everything you'd expect in a normal arboreal biome. And the indigenous creatures! Lots of lizards! Reallycolourfullizards."

Delicious lizards

Of course he overheard, but didn't butt in. He was busy chewing.

"I saw some of those rainbow lizards today too," a Scorpion man said, drawn by the Kitsune's excitable chatter. "I got some holovideo of them, even. The ones I saw had spines along their backs, almost like colorful sashimono." He waved a half-eaten skewer of spicy meat in enthusiasm.

"Pardon my intrusion," he added apologetically. "I'm Bayushi Akagi."

"Lizards, huh?" Yul looked to his half-eaten skewer. "No kidding." After a moment, he took another bite with a shrug.

Turning, he bowed to the newcomer. "Shinjo Yul." Yul greeted the man cheerfully. "You got a recording, huh? Did you take an ATV out, too?"

"KitsuneIzumi."

He glanced at his empty skewer, finally putting two and two together, and shrugged.

"Youhavetherecordingwithyou?"

"That's right," Akagi agreed. "A couple friends took me to the fungal forest this afternoon, and the rental ATVs are actually quite nice. I hear it's possible to hike out to the forest too, if you're in good shape; it takes longer, but I'm sure you get a great view that way. I might try that sometime, once I know the terrain a little better."


"As a matter of fact, I do," the Bayushi said, putting down his own skewered meat and producing his holorecorder. There was a gentle whirring sound as it began projecting.

Yul shrugged. "I'm in pretty good shape, but I 'd sorta like to see how one of those ATVs handles. If it can be piloted, driven, or just ridden, I can do it." He said confidently.

He leaned in, making space for Izumi to get a look as well. "Wow, that is colorful. Is that the same kind you saw, Kitsune-sama?"

He peered closer.
