Tall and imposing, Asako Naokuni is well respected if not loved by his people. As the eldest son of the previous governor, the disgruntled war veteran inherited the throne in 3118 when his father died, retiring from the Phoenix navy to 'serve' his people. Naokuni is well known for his industrialist tendencies, trying to push the Asako to invest more money and resources into Asakaze. Scandalous rumors circulating in the local intranet connect the middle-aged statesman to several lovers but the governor's office denies all such allegations, stating that the governor does not need to answer to ridiculous and slanderous claims. The governor is also known for his love for the otori, owning no fewer than three such beasts.

What is known by diplomats and locals

Naokuni is best know for his service in the Phoenix volunteer unit 'Flowers' that helped to protect the Shinjo shipping lines during the series of skirmishes between Unicorn and Spider in 3116-3117. This conflict saw the Spider raid the Unicorn shipping using two light carriers, with Phoenix responding in kind, deploying small squadrons of fighters to locations where the merchant vessels had to enter the real space. What began as a simple commerce raid developed into 13 month long shadow war that neither of the clans wanted to acknowledge. The Shinjo commander of the NW-309-461 theater of operations, using her personal connections, managed to persuade the Phoenix to send a squadron of fighters to assist the Unicorn to safeguard their overstretched shipping lines. Officially the Phoenix pilots were never there, flying Unicorn craft and wearing unmarked flight suits. With each plane of the volunteer squadron decorated with various flowers it did not take long before the flight command began to refer to the volunteers as 'Flowers'. The fighter given to Asako Naokuni, a young flight commander at the time, was decorated with red yarrows and so Naokuni adopted 'Red Yarrow' as his nom de guerre. During the nine month tour Naokuni shot down six Spider attack craft, becoming the first and the only ace of his squadron.

Once the shadow war ended, the Phoenix were able to report on the matter, Naokuni becoming a minor celebrity for his achievements - his success allowing him to pursue a career in the Phoenix navy, eventually becoming a staff officer for the 1st North Eastern Combat Group, serving abroad the light carrier Firedancer for five years. After his father died in 3118, Naokuni retired from the military to take up the position as the governor of Asakaze. Married for over 24 years, the governor's personal life has been marred with scandals, the rumors and clandestine holo-pics associating him with no fewer than three different lovers. Besides his apparent womanizing ways, the stern war veteran is best known for his love of otori and song as well as his hatred of the Spider. Several diplomatic reports note that Naokuni is known to frequent karaoke bars while also making it painfully clear that the man cannot actually sing.

Isawa Sora is among the finest graduates of the vaunted New Temple of Remembrance, the second most prestigious dojo for the Isawa Shugenja. Having excelled in his studies and with his command of the elements comparable that to the post-graduates, the talented graduate was picked up by Isawa Sayuri, one of the karo to Isawa Eichi, the current Master of Air. Working with the Phoenix military Sora cannot discuss his work but is more than willing to discuss matters both spiritual and scientific with anyone willing to listen. Well aware of his talents and his meteoric rise through the academia, Sora's self-confidence borders arrogance, his faith in the Isawa unshakeable.

Having met Asako Chiruha at winter court during the 3123 season, Sora became smitten with the outgoing and bright young woman. Hearing about the miai on Asakaze the young man wasted no time, requesting a permission to participate with the intention of winning the hand of Chiruha, perhaps naively convinced that she is the right spouse for him.

Asako Chiruha trained at the New Heaven's Wing Dojo to become a courtier, following in her mother's footsteps until her recent retirement from courtier life. With her parent's connections, she has attended a few courts in Phoenix space and including a recent Winter Court where she was acquainted with Isawa Sora. However, she finds herself easily homesick and most comfortable on Asakaze. She has attached and engrained herself into the community in Shiro Yoake as the governor's daughter which many find themselves endeared by her enthusiastic participation. She does spend a large amount of time outside of the Shiro as well, surveying wildlife and cataloguing fauna for the relatively young colony, often not returning until a few days later.

The eldest child of Asako Naokuni appears to be rugged, especially so for a courtier. Her complexion is sun-kissed with a few freckles from her extended time outdoors. Her hair is cropped short to a boyish cut and there is clear enthusiasm in her eyes. She appears to be consistently busy, always looking for something to do, or be helpful to the benefit the local community of Shiro Yaoke. It is said that it can be difficult to catch her at one place for too long as she appears to be stricken with wanderlust. She often dresses for function and not fashion, favouring a colonist's jumpsuit as the most befitting outfit of her busy day.

Aoi, her Otori

Asako Saneyuki is the keeper of the Shrine to Mori no Reiou and the current head of the Shinri sect. While Saneyuki is hardly among the most coveted bachelors of the city, he is of the age and so both the senior members if the Shinri and his elderly relatives expect him to find a spouse sooner than later. The locals know very little about the enigmatic priest other than that his sect wields a fair amount of soft power. Nearly everyone knows someone belonging to the sect and that its members follow a particular variant of Tao that places great importance on one's connection with the nature. If one asks around, the local monks are quick to assure that the tenets of the Shinri are in accordance to the canon of the Brotherhood.

Tall and willowy with raven hair, Saneyuki is rather handsome for a Phoenix, though he lacks the heart-aching beauty the Scorpion and Crane men are known for. The young man wears his orange-yellow ceremonial robes in public and as he spends most of his time at the shrine, a pungent scent of incense tends to linger around him. Carrying an aura of confidence around him, he seems to have rather high opinion about himself perhaps sometimes sounding more like a Kakita than an Asako.

Ever since her start as a Kuni witch hunter, Kuni Eriko has had the pleasure of visiting a few worlds across the galaxy. Much like the Kuni witch hunter of old, her duties have her scouring territories abroad seek those who hide their taint or succumb to the dark arts of Maho. Noone can be truly sure if they are completely safe from spiritual corruption, after all. Admittedly, she hasn't seen much success as a witch hunter but she had been enough of a handful for her sensei to keep tabs on her. Witch hunters are known to be a magnet for trouble. It was only a matter of time until she was pulled from her time abroad and obligated to tend to her marital affairs.

Kuni Eriko is easily picked out by the Kuni traditional face paint that she wears. It is a design with blue eye shadow and a distinct motif around her left eye. She has long dark hair with the sides of her head shaven. Her fashion is mostly contemporary and drawn from the city. She finds herself favouring dress coats with robe-like blouses. Regardless of what she chooses to dress in, her sidearm is often kept close in a holster. Eriko carries herself with purpose, although her intentions might be cryptic and on a need to know basis.

Asako Ryo is the younger brother of Asako Chiruha, also raised in Shiro Yoake and trained at the New Heaven's Wing Dojo. Compared to his sister, he has merely begun in his tenure as a courtier. His presence around the colony is scarce, although he will often find himself around the Shiro Yoake at opportune times just hanging out or watching the populace. When not needed for drone maintenance work, he will often spend his free time practicing his bat swings or exercising. He might be seen around his father's side or at his office.

Early in his teen years, Asako Ryo had hit an unusual growth spurt and towers over the rest of his family with his tall and lanky stature. He has spent a great deal of time working out in physical activity that he has more definition in his tall build. His brown hair is short and kept in a scruffy almost lackadaisical manner. When around the guests, he almost appears to be bored or disinterested and would rather be elsewhere yet he remains shackled to where he is. Despite not part of the miai, he is representing his father and the colony as a whole. He is often seen dressed in a colonist's jumpsuit or athletic wear.

Graduate of the Susumu courtier school, Katsuo is polite and soft spoken, even if he is easily just as assertive as his Yasuki and Yoritomo counterparts. Preferring to dress traditionally, he usually wears a brown or grey haori over a well tailored gi with neatly pleated hakama if only to give a professional impression. Tall and well groomed, Katsuo cuts a fine figure even if his years are slowly starting to show. He wears a perfume that mixes the notes of juniper and sandalwood with heavy undertones of musk, the scent a flagship product of the Eightfold Web perfumery.

Determined and deliberate, Katsuo is used to getting what he wants, one way or another, and is willing to circumvent the local laws whenever he deems that necessary. Following the Spider policies, Katsuo wears an expensive jade-wrought wristwatch and small jade earring on his right ear. Whenever the matter of Dark Fortunes or Shourido comes up, Katsuo is quick to change the topic, insisting that he is a worldly man and that he takes no stance in such things, explaining with a smirk on his lips how ‘koku are his religion’.

Hiruma Chiyoko hails from the lost world of Hida Secundus and a visiting guest to Shiro Yoake. While her name isn't famous itself and her appearance is plain in comparison, wrestling fans who watch the Rumble Slam Arena will know her as The Menace of the Delinquent Club, the character she plays on the pro-wrestling show by the Silver Fin Productions. Her purpose here is kept to herself and she often will keep a low-profile where possible while on Asakaze. However, she might be seen around the city, partaking some of the local offerings and cataloguing her time here with her communicator. She appears to be most comfortable when by herself but appears reserved otherwise.

She dresses casually in current fashion without any trappings of her previous military training. However, she is still quite toned and no stranger to the gym. Her hair is long and dyed a distinct ash grey. There something about her eyes and the fact that they fail to match exactly in colour, almost providing an unsettling air about her if looked at too long.

Determined and diligent, Agasha Kaori is the youngest lord magistrate to ever serve at Shiro Yoake and while her appointment was largely political, she has won the grudging respect of her underling during the two years she has spent in the office. Caring little of fashions or arts, Kaori spends most of her free time with her wife, Nao and their three year old twin boys. The small family is a common sight at the dojo, the lord magistrate teaching jiujutsu and kenjutsu to her sons despite their young age.
