Alas, no. There is no way they'll give a Crane to steal the show even by accident. You can bring your idea up D2 with you-know-who.

Have a question about the cooperative dancing mini-game in the starcade. So according to the rules, you roll twice, and you're trying to get within 3 of your partner's roll. The example gives a person having two numbers two choose from.

However, when rolling for skills, one is normally allowed to choose which dice they keep, which are not necessarily the highest ones. So if your die pool was 3k2 and you rolled that twice, you could actually have six numbers to choose from AB, AC, BC, DE, DF, and EF.

And more skilled people would have even more choices, yknow, which makes sense to me since it's a co-op game, but some clarification would be nice.

To simplify things, you have to chose keep high or keep low for your rolls.

I think Atsumori's initial courtship points might also be slightly off? No rush though.

Oh! Didn't expect that... Kinda means people with similar skills have a better chance I guess?

Anyway, waiting on an answer to Bayushi-san's question too :) especially as we may be dancing soon (I'll get to it soon I swear)

Oh, another question btw. Having spent on a Computer, a Radio with a hard-drive and some other simpler stuff for my music things, would I be able to get at least bad quality samples of environmental sounds (i.e. in the forest and so on) to use in my music?

If not, what's the cheapest thing I could get to do that for me? : p Even if just renting it for a day or so?

In regards to the dancing game. I believe like all rolls in L5R, you would have decide to keep low and keep high before you make your roll, indicated in the description of the roll. The game is meant to be rather difficult and I understand could yield potentially different results even with two highly skilled dancers going at the same time.

However, if you manage to sync together...it is indeed fate that you're match, supposedly.

Side note that the rule in L5R is not keep low or keep high. It is keep x dice. You pretty much always get to chose which x dice you keep--unless GM says otherwise for reasons. (because all kinds of things are set up where you want a different flavor, or just to simplify an event.)

Wanted it noted for folks making fluff rolls. If it tickles your inner nerd to pick the dice giving you a total of 42 on that Lore: Universe roll, go for it.

How would you like us to handle letters/emails/text messages to PCs or NPCs? Like Communicators? Private folder? Something else? Is it possible to send them anonymously?

Hiding in OOC pins: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=131

Edit: I have no idea if anonymous notes are a thing, though! That's for the GMs.

I shall confirm which direction he wishes to take with the machine itself when Tassu awakes.

Oh it totally makes sense for that event, given that it's meant to be tricky to match up. Definitely falls in the 'GM says otherwise' category.

I just wanted to clarify the 'like all rolls in L5R, you would have decide to keep low and keep high before you make your roll' part as applied outside of the event. It's not the norm, and should probably be stated in errata if it will be for this game.

Sorry if I'm confusing the ruling there.

Bumping this so it doesn't get forgotten, and also adding another question.

The description of the Kayama mentions there are guests artists now and then. Do we have a list of who will be featured? And... who should we talk to try to pave our way to perform there at one of the days? :)

Sorry about that and I can answer this one! I would say that you'd be able to record through your computer if you're looking for bad quality sounds. At a bu, you could up your quality to average.

As for the Kayama, they may have a few guests lined up but I would that the PCs have fortuitous placement that they could get an opening if they truly wish for one. Suzume Shion is likely qualified by creditial and talent for a single night's appearance at the very least. If it goes well, repeat appearances will be welcomed!

Anonymous messages are not a thing. Welcome to dystopian society where you clan probably knows how much toilet paper you buy.

You were. I wanted to keep the mechanic a) simple b) arbitrary. Having people roll and spend time picking the right set of dice makes this way too complex.
