Apparently the participants in the Miai are supposed to meet at a gathering at the Xenobotanic garden in the evening... she can probably hit the club later, see what's playing, maybe get to hear something different. Little use going there before the night has even started.

As she walks with Stray along the main street, she notices the Arcade. The little one will probably not be welcome inside... so she tries to find a place to leave him with some water, ties the leash to a metal grid on the pavement outside, pets him a bit, then goes inside to have a look at the games.

The Sparrow lands had little in the way of these, but she actually remembers some from browsing stuff - and she remembers the soundtrack from most. Some of them were actually good - the theme from that Iaijutsu simulator was a classic! Even if it got a bit boring after repeating for the fourth time...

She then stopped in her tracks as she saw the two machines for Hyper Dance Stars. She had tried that exactly once before, and it was fun! The samples weren't perfect, of course, but it had a number of songs to choose from. She had to give it another go, see if they might have added any new songs.

And... dancing cooperatively seemed like a nice thing to try. Just... she probably wasn't the most inviting-looking person around. Maybe if she tried smiling some more...

Eh, nah. Pretending to smile is so much work... and it didn't feel right, either.

She'd just wait close to the game machines. Maybe someone would show up...

Tsukiko enters the arcade in the hopes of some relief from the sweltering heat outside, but no suck luck. Well, it's still better than being directly under the sun and she might as well pass the time playing some games while she's here waiting for the heat to go down. Wait, is that Hyper Dance Stars? And she can win collectible pins? Oh, she's in! ...But it's co-op...

"Naoki, can you dance at all?"

"I cannot, Bayushi-sama. Maybe there are other players that will be willing to join you?"

"No one seems interested in this game though, nearly everyone here is busy gambling at the Fortunes and Winds machines..."

She wanders around the arcade, looking around at the other games while she waits for someone to also look for a dance partner. Oh, there's someone leaning on the side of the machines that she missed. Maybe she's willing to play?

"Hey, um, Suzume-san? Do you know how to dance?"

Shion looked at the other girl, her relatively bland face smiling a bit. "Oh... Scorpion-sama" She didn't quite get a good enough look to see a Bayushi mon for now. Still, a prospective partner was good.

"I'm... not a pro, definitely. Tried the game itself just once some years back... but I was hoping to give it another shot.", she says, taking the Shamisen case from her back and finding a place to lean it without damaging it. "Wanna give it a go?"

"Well, I wouldn't be asking if I didn't. You don't need to be a pro to have fun, come on!"

She pulls the Suzume by the hand to the cabinet as she begins scrolling through the numerous pages of music.

"Mmm, how about this one from Usagi Drop? It has a pretty high difficulty but the song is really good! Or is there a different band you prefer?"

Shion is a bit startled when the girl pulls her hand, but she goes along with it, getting into the dancing machine and moving her feet around a bit to get a feel for it.

"Oh". Usagi Drop. They were all the rage now, weren't they? She'd listened to the new album, of course, and it had its charm... although she felt they were repeating themselves a bit.

Still, that was a good song.

"Oh, 'dropkick bunnies' is a good one, I'm game. I'll just apologise for my performance up front", she says, chuckling a bit as she gets ready, waiting for the Bayushi to step on the 'start' button.

"Why are you apologizing? Save your energy and enjoy yourself, there's no point to being here if you don't!"

As soon as the music starts, Tsukiko begins grooving to the rhythm, vibing along to the song without really caring much about the score or synergy between the two. She attempts quite a few moves that don't match up well but she's grinning and they haven't failed yet, though it might make someone more uncompromising grimace at her unwillingness or inability to try and dance in sync.

"Hey, not bad! You're keeping up pretty well!"

Somehow, they managed to score close enough to receive two of the pins which Tsukiko promptly grabs and hands both to the Suzume. (ooc idk what the pins should look like, will ask gms if we can decide for ourselves or if they want to choose)

"Woooo! That was exciting, don't you think? Here, I don't need nor want the pins, you can have them as a thanks for dancing with me!"

The Sparrow chuckles and starts moving as well. It's been quite a long time since she last did this... and it kinda shows. But she manages to keep up a similar rhythm to Tsukiko - even failing similarly at times!

When all is said and done, they both manage performances that are way below par, and even worse than Shion had got the first time she actually tried Hyper Dance Stars.... but similar and in tune enough that the game rewards them pins!

Seeing the Bayushi insisting that they keep both pins, a still panting Shion smiles and waves her hands at her.

"Oh! Thanks, Bayushi-san, but we... earned them together! Maybe we can keep one each as a reminder of this... fateful performance?" - the result they just got should be enough to convey the wry humour, but if not her raised brow and grin should help get the message through. "It's been fun though, thanks Bayushi-san", she completes.
