Hm, what's the TN to treat poisoning in the Ikebana event? Some of us medical types DO have the poison emphasis required, and might be willing to undercut the Phoenix treatment prices

if u call the max amount of raises (let's say 2) but still have a free raise, would it do anything such as give u an extra point for whatever event it is for?

That is basically what Free Raises do. You announce the use of a Free Raise along with any Raises you call and state what you're using it for (more points, +5 to total of roll). Free Raises do exactly the same as Raises.

From Core rules:

Quote:

Some mechanical effects grant a character Free Raises. These give the benefit of having made a Raise without actually increasing the TN of the roll in question, and do not count toward the maximum number of Raises that may be made per roll.
Free Raises may also be used to reduce the TN of the task being attempted by 5 instead of augmenting the roll in the same way as a normal Raise.

So basically, if you have Void 2, call 2 raises, have 1 free raise, and succeeds at the roll, you get the benefit of 3 raises yes.

Assume TN 20, 2 void, 1 Free Raise.

This can result to.

TN 30, 2 Raises called, 1 Free Raise for total of 3 Raises.

Or TN 25, 2 Raises called, Free Raise used to reduce the TN by 5 and having total of 2 Raises.

Is there a way to socialize at the Otori event? Like a separate LM thread where we can talk and observe others trying it out?

While the later case is possible, is there any benefit at doing that instead of calling a single raise and using the free raise as, well, a free raise (for TN25, 1CR, 1FR, total two Raises)?

EDIT: Also, could we have a sticky thread somewhere with all clarifications about Unskilled Rolls and/or Free Raises?

A quick question on D2' Star log - what is meant by "gateway"? Is it something that's happening in the city, something on the tv, a news report?
