Eventually, Sloan would see a familiar face (and core) jogging in the other direction. Yul was even more casually dressed than usual, in undress uniform pants and tank top. And his aviators, of course; the sun was up, after all.

He slowed as he recognized Sloan, slowing. "Well, well," Yul said, grinning, slowing further. "Fancy seeing you here." His chest rose and fell, his breathing heavy; clearly he'd been at it for a bit of time.

Reaching up, he pulled the sunglasses from his face, his brown eyes glinting at Sloan as they were revealed.

Cool glasses.

Shoan stops herself, shaking her head slightly. Stupid glasses.
"Shinjo-san?" Slightly incredulous "You're...going for a run here as well?"
Well, etiquette did have its demands....and Yul did seem to be putting in honest work so the Unicorn could not truly be faulted
"May I join you?"

Now that he'd tucked away his glasses, it was easy to see his eyebrows go up at the tone.

"Sounds good." Yul agreed, smiling. He jerked a thumb back the way he came. "You wanna go that way? I scouted it out already. It seems pretty good."

Looking back where he had gestured
"Sure, although I will be setting a fast pace Shinjo-san. Please do not feel the need to keep up with me as you have already been out for some time."
She'd have to get up earlier tomorrow

Shoan starts jogging off before turning around
"Wait, what makes it a pretty good way?"

Yul waved a hand. "Not that long. I think I just need it."

He did his best to keep up with her, only to stop when she turned. "Uh... nothing really." Yul said, blinking. "It was a joke. You know, hey, this identical wall section is really cool..." He spread his hands. "I guess if I have to explain it..."

"Oh"
She nods before continuing her jog, the Lion not actually trying to outpace Yul
"I see." deadpan "Quite humorous."

With her slowing down, Yul managed to keep pace well enough.

"Yeah. Thanks." Yul chuckled. Briefly, they jogged in silence.

"So..." He began, speaking as he exhaled, "What do you do for recreation, Murame-san?"

“Travel is my greatest pleasure, and one that combines nicely with deployments, although often combat can limit perspective. Other than that, history and the study of bushido are how I prefer to spend my down time.”
Realising that sounds a little bland
“And Uh, video games? Sort of? And sometimes poetry, I am not good at poetry.”
Glancing over to Yul as the walls begins to slop upwards over one of the city’s gates
What about you Shinjo-san? I have heard several other samurai speak of your recreational activities, but would prefer to hear from you directly.”

Yul chuckled. "I'm not good at poetry, either. Do Lion and Crane get along? If so, I know a Crane that you'd probably get along with."

Even as they jogged, Yul managed to give Shoan a quick surprised glance. "Oh? Several other samurai?" After jogging on for a moment, Yul made a face. "I hope you're gonna tell me what they're saying. But since you answered me..."

Yul shrugged, the motion of his body masking the movement somewhat. "I don't know if flying counts, but if it does, I love to fly. I gotta rent one of those Ornithopters soon." He sighed. "I like physical stuff. You ever play Oshidama? And sometimes I'd go dancing, back on Shinjo's Grace..."

He smirked. "I've played the odd video game, too. Flight simulators mostly, when I can't get the real thing."

“I get along with any honourable samurai.... but I think our clans are closer now than they have been. I have certainly met several Crane samurai who have behaved quite appropriately...”

Trying to look completely innocent at Yul’s glance
“I’ve been told you’re a skilled pilot, that you are popular with women, and that you are either fire or ice. They are not necessarily bad things to be, although I am none of them.”

She spotted the occasional ornithopter soaring ahead so it wasn’t hard to envision the Shinjo soaring overhears in one, or dancing given his excellent core strength
“You enjoy your duties, that is a blessing. I tried a flight simulator once but the cockpit was overly small and flying machines are... complex.”

"Popular with woman, huh?" Yul chuckled. He was aware of the effect he had, yeah. "Hyeon-ju didn't say that, did she? But to answer the question, I'm fire, she's ice. Definitely ice."

"Yeah?" He glanced at Shoan again. "Well, how do you feel about the real thing? Like, for fun, not in a combat drop or anything like that."

“.... I prefer not to attribute these quotes. Utaku-sama in an honourable samurai who I am sure is not prone to gossip.... and she is also ice now, I suppose”

Shoan looks up at the sky as the two jog on, below them the roads are beginning to throng with heimin heading outside the walls
“I... would like to go flying. There is a different perspective that high up, things are further away, worries too, if you have a good pilot.”

"Have a good pilot..." Yul chuckled. "Murame-san, I'm a Skyrider. I'm more than just a good pilot. Flying is what I do. There's no way I'm gonna go this whole trip, no, not even this whole week without getting up there."

His confident smirk faded, to be replaced by a thoughtful look. "Sounds like you'd really like to get up there, too, huh? Like to get away?"

“For a time at least. My responsibilities are all grounded.”
Shoan appears ever so slightly amused
“Of course, I cannot fly on my own”

"No, that's true." Yul shrugged. "So I'll take you up. How does that sound?"

He looked at her, eyes narrowing, trying to figure out what amused her. "Your On is very good." He said after a few moments.

“....Oh I’m sorry Shinjo-san, I was just thinking about the different customs by which the clans ask a samurai out. I’m told I have resting severe On, it has its uses. Yes, you may take me up, I will look forward to it. Besides.”
Still with that amused On
“If I tried to just book a pilot I’d probably wander into the vehicle only to find you in the cockpit.”

"Could be." Yul grinned. "I spend a lot of time in the cockpit. So yeah, that tracks."

He tilted his head, looking at her, slowing further; clearly a bit tired. "So how do the Lion ask a samurai out?"

Slowing to a power walk, not that she’d recognise any samurai as being tired.
“Traditionally we would send a formal message providing the option of an appropriate meeting. It is not something I am particularly knowledgeable about, though I do not recall inviting samurai to go flying as an option. Your methods are quite skilled Shinjo-san.”
Evidently the briefings she’d heard on Yul were correct!

Yul's eyebrows went up. "A formal message, huh? Yeah, we're a bit less formal about it, where I'm from. At least, until things get serious." Depending on one's definition.

He looked at her, smiling. "So, then... it's a date, huh? Alright, good to know." Yul nodded. "I'll wear something nice."
