Refik had talked about this one a lot a few weeks back, only refraining from spoiling the ending when she threatened some well-placed kicks. So Mumei had not wanted to miss it when she saw it on the schedule. Dressed in her usual worn cargo pants and top, she sprawled across one of the equally worn sofas in the common room, waiting for the movie to begin. The advertisements for some kind of refreshing drinks did seem likely to sell them on this hot, sticky world.

Hide had wanted to watch a movie and relax. It had been quite the day, between staying up so late last night at the club and then doing that biathlon in the morning. She wore her standard issue shirt from her fatigues. Which, was of course, fairly form-fitting. And it seemed cargo pants were just popular tonight.

“Oh, hey, there roomie. Gonna watch the movie tonight?” Hide plopped herself down on the floor in front of the couch Mumei had claimed. “You look comfy.”

"Yep. Heard it was good--and almost too much of the plot already. And my wallet won't handle clubbing every night." She pops open a cheap vending machine umeshu.

"It's not bad for a couch that looks like my grandparents might have made out on it and then rode it through the Opened Paths to a half dozen worlds before dropping it off here as a favor." She unsprawls a bit. "There's room if you like."

"How'd the trials of the strong and fast go?" She'd been notably absent from today's miai event.

Hide looked up towards Mumei, her face as worn as the couch that had certainly seen better days. “I don’t think I can even move right now, but I’ll try.” She shakily pulled herself to her feet, just to plop down on the couch next to Mumei.

“I did decent.” Hide leaned back, putting an arm over the back of the couch. “I just keep learning more things every day. Today I learned that I will forever eat mushrooms out of sheer vengeance for the crimes of their larger kin.”

"oooo, you ran that course of theirs in this weather, didn't you? I mean...no reason not to when you're actually trained to such stuff." There's a sympathetic shake of her head.

"At least mushrooms are delicious. There are worse things to have to swear a vendetta of devouring upon."

“I mean... I have to compete here to better my chances to go home with someone...” Hide glanced over to the Osprey next to her, tired amusement on her face. “Anyone catch your eye yet? You seemed to be very popular on the dance floor last night. It was quite the show.”

The miai had been quite the non-stop adventure. It had been quite tiring, but there was definitely an appeal to spending a little time relaxing and watching a dark power fantasy for awhile.

He noted the Osprey in conversation with the Lion, acknowledged their presence with a bow, and then turned his eyes to the screen.

"He had a heart attack. Sometimes Emma-O just picks people for a reason not apparent to us mere mortals."


"One person? Perhaps. An entire fireman's gang dead from heart attacks? Either Emma-O is racking up overtime, or there is something more sinister going on here.

Her head falls back against the couch with a loud exhale. "There's a lot of reaaaaaly pretty samurai here" She turns with a lopsided grin. "Present company included."

"N' if we were just all here to hook up, this'd be a banquet, an open bar! But...to bring home to settle in our clan...or leave with! For good! That's a lot bigger to think about." She grins. "Not going to lie, being Hida-sama's bait was, hmm...more than fun, and it's so good to get on the dance floor. But I kind of hope I'm not ending up with a Nakodo pairing me off to someone who's just happy I can do great things with my hips."

The rest of her flops over to join her face in facing the Matsu. Noting that the movie has started, she scoots a bit closer to avoid conversation being tooo distracting. "How about you? Good prospects?"

It hadn't been the best day for Nara, but she was at least recovered from the painful fall. Her clothes also survived, which was a good thing as she liked this outfit.

Leaning against the wall, she peeked into the room and said "room for one more?" before smiling and bowing.

Tsugiharu nodded at the entrance of Nara. It might be interesting to hear a former star of screen's comments on this show.

"Sure, Susumu-san. You seen this one before?"

For a good moment and a half, all that went through Hide’s mind was a long string of panicked explicitives and telling herself not to look away from Mumei’s face. Thankfully, the two Spider coming in served as a distraction from her... Increasingly disastrous thoughts.

“There’s plenty of room here. Come on and join.” Hide took that moment to greet the newcomers.

Turning her attention, and body, back towards Mumei, she let out an obviously nervous chuckle. She kept her voice low so she wouldn’t bother the others. “I’m not going to lie, I have found a couple that caught my eye.”

Pulling her knees up to sit cross-legged on the couch, Mumei, tugs her battered communicator out of a pocket and flips it open to type.




She definitely glances up at the screen while they chat. "Refik never mentioned that the weird avatar thing is so...creepy-hot. Is that a thing? I think it's a thing."

Hide felt the buzz of her communicator which definitely rose a brow. It was a bit obvious who it came from. So she reached into her pocket and checked the couple of messages that Mumei had already sent. There was a slight telling wince.

One hand lifts to cover a laugh.



She suspects the Matsu can, in fact, go vroom and pew pew. Spaaaace remains to be seen.

Hide’s face changed from slightly panicked to absolutely confused in no time flat. And in just the same amount of time it was back to being panicked.

Nara gave those in the room a bow and a smile, before moving to where her kin was.



"Seen what before?" Nara asked, tilting her head.

There was a small internal sigh. Did Nara just think people sat in common rooms for no reason?

He nodded towards the screen.

"The show that is on: Fatal Scripture." he clarified.

Mumei grins, and taps rapidly, ignoring the occasional flashes of advertising comm notices flashing at her.



She glances up at the Susumu, wondering if more Spider were going to follow some call to gather here. "It's supposed to be pretty good. And the leads are easy to look at."

The Obsidian Magiatrate, dressed casually in standard issue black uniform pants, and a dark grey tank top, walked into the common room. On his feet, simple sandals. He had a bottle of water, his eyes looking to the screen, then seeing the others.

"Just starting?"

Actually, that kind of amused Hide. Mumei liked that Daidoji with that strange accent that she couldn’t quite place.



She looked up at the screen. Oh no, there was a Kuni there as well.
