As the craft settled down, Ishiyo pulled out her armor and began slipping it on. She blushed and looked at the other passengers, "Sorry...a bit paranoid of me." It was relatively plain, but in near mint condition...Ishiyo probably didn't wear it often.

Chiyoko shrugged. "I mean, we don't know what that bug bug is gonna do. You're just being sensible." Her HAR was prepared, and she took something of an Overwatch position, watching the creature carefully. If it decided to scurry towards them, Chiyoko would find out very quickly how thick that carapace was.

Already armored, Hyeon-ju slipped on her gasmask, just to be on the safe side. She knew enough about fungi that many of them released spores - some of them dangerous.

However, the presence of the GIANT centipede warranted something else: the holo-recorder. "Wooow... look at the size of that thing," she remarked, clearly impressed. Though she was also more than content with watching it from a safe distance. Whatever zoom-functions the holo-recorder had was utilized to the fullest.

Seemed like you couldn't take the explorer out of the Unicorn.

"Didn't know insects could grow that big out here on Asakaze too..."

"It's kind of cool, isn't it?" She smirked. "Get the images you want, then let's go opposite it. I'll keep trained on it til we're well out of sight, just in case it decides that we look like food."

"Yeah... that sounds good." Hyeon-ju made sure to get some really nice frames of it - maybe someone would appriciate this footage a lot among some of the potential suitors.

"Ok, I think I got some good shots in there. We can move on."

"Do you think it will bother the ornithopter?" Ishiyo adds, not particularly caring for the mean looking critter. "I don't favor walking back..."

Chiyoko didn't know shit about this particular breed of centipede, and just shrugged. "Don't see why it would. The ornithopter ain't food. But if you're worried enough, we can make sure to stay in sight of the ornithopter just in case it decides to get curious."

"I've not yet met a giant-bug that is interested in things it can't eat... but this one is different from the mega-fauna I've seen on Kuwagata back home, so... maybe?"

Hyeon-ju didn't think it likely for a centipede to being trashing or attacking the ornithopter. Biggest worry would be that it might try to go inside if the doors were left open, but they had closed them all so it probably was no issue.

She nodded in agreement with Chiyoko's suggestion.

The Crane blushed in embarrassment, "It would probably be prudent." She mumbled to save face. Ishiyo did grab her rifle though, just to be safe.

With the rifle slung on her shoulder, the armored Utaku was mostly busy capturing the surroundings with her holo-recorder.

And the others too. "And here we see the miai participants, in what is not their natural surroundings..." she commented, while attempting to sound like one of those famous nature-documetary commentators.

They did not get far before they could spy small flock iridescent green and blue butterflies fluttering in the air by a large, rotting stump of a mushroom stalk. The antenna of these alien butterflies strangely thick with hair, the bugs resembling more moths than anything else. Notably the butterflies were huge, their wingspan almost eight inches - easily size of a Rokugani sparrow. This meant that the samurai did not only see the insects but could also her them, the low droning sound filling the air.

Being on the ground again, Shokomaru said a silent thanks to Koshin and snagged his gear. There were3nearly this many critters on the biathalon patrol route.

Oh well.

See nodded to megapede but didn't bother it and followed in step, yawning a little. The shiny butterflies though, he stopped with the others and watched for a while. That was something to see and remember.

Helmet clipped to his belt still he put on his UV shades to get a real trip.

"Feel like we should have brought a biologist", he muttered.

"Maybe..." Hyeon-ju's response was a little absent-minded as she tried to capture the butterflies on holo too.

All in all, the biathlon (even if she didn't finish at the top), and this excursion was the best thing she had done in a while and it had put her in a visibly good mood.

"Matsu-san, strike a pose," she said as she tried to capture a picture of Chiyoko on the holo with the butterflies as a backdrop.

Her attention left the megapede to admire the butterflies. At Hyeon-ju's bidding, she bent a knee and set the HAR casually on her shoulder. And as she winked, she held out a peace sign to Hyeon-ju.

For her part the Crane had fallen silent to admire the forest. She had not had time to do so earlier while just struggling to get through the biathlon.

"Perfect." Hyeon-ju gave her a thumbs-up as she captured the glory.

No matter how this miai turned out, at least she'd have a cool picture of Maximum Range Chiyoko as a memento.

"Don't need to be a biologist to appriciate all these sights though... imagine what it must've been like to have been the first explorers out here."

"This is still wild, figure it'd be pretty similar", Shokomaru observed, turning the UV function of the sunglasses off and just using them to block bright light like usual. "But it is nice, the smells really keep you grounded in what this place really is, it's a lot stronger than the garden back in the city."

"It is nice," she nodded. "Nicer still to be enjoying it without thinking about enemy forces." There was a bit of a smirk as she pushed her sunglasses up to get a better view. "Who's idea was this again? I wanna know who to give proper credit to."

"Daigotsu-sama's I believe," Ishiyo responds, currently enraptured by the butterflies.

"The credit goes to Daigotsu-sama, yes." It hadn't been her idea to to fly out, even if she had wanted to.

She captured some good pictures of Ishiyo too. And a token one of Shokomaru so that it wouldn't seem too weird to leave him out.

"Besides... judging by today's contest, it might not be a bad thing to venture out a bit and get a better feeling of the lay of the land - so to speak."
