Rumble Slam Arena is easily the most popular Crab program created by the Silver Fin Production that even sees holo-vid distribution outside of the Crab Clan. Taking the sport of sumai and wrestling, the Crab Clan have managed to propel the popularity of the sport by giving their wrestlers characters and involving them in storylines to give purpose to their match. Often the wrestlers are divided into smaller factions who vie for dominance in the league against each other or climb the ranks to win a championship belt. While like theatre, some of the events and outcomes of the matches are scripted, nobody can deny the strength and endurance required to take part in these matches.
In addition to their exhibition match, the Rumble Slam Arena has also gifted a custom belt to the colony of Shiro Yoake, the Asakaze Championship belt. To search for the first deserving champion of the build, the league has held an exhibition tournament, open to all locals and visitors of Shiro Yoake. The first Asakaze Champion must show that they are a worthy wrestler, sportsperson and especially, entertain the crowds.
Step One: Choose your opponentEach respective challenger is given a quick course in wrestling fundamentals before they are paired with an opponent of their choice. Their chosen opponent will determine the difficulty of the match and the final outcome. The difficulties based on the choice will be listed in each subsequent roll. Wrestlers must stay with the same wrestler for the whole match.
Basic talents: Basic talents in the league is made up of young wrestlers, wrestlers who have recently joined the league or ronin wrestlers who have been hired for this job. Their purpose is to make the other talent look strong and hardly put up much of a real offensive in their matches.
The Booking Script: Wrestlers going against basic talent will win the match narratively regardless of the rolls and do not affect the value of the rolls.
League talents: League talents are the general wrestlers of the league who have established themselves in Rumble Slam Arena with a few notable victories but don't currently hold any champion belt nor are currently in the running contenders. Hiruma Chiyoko is an example of league talent. Despite that, they are all formidable wrestlers and pose a greater challenge to their opponents, especially to novice wrestlers.
The Booking Script: Wrestlers going against league talent will only win the match narratively if they pass all their rolls. This does not affect the value of the rolls. If they do pass all of their rolls, they gain +0.1 Glory.
Step Two: PromotionAs a wrestler, they must run some self-promotion on themselves in order to hype up the match for the audience. This can come in the form of giving a personality or creating a character for the audience to find an appeal too. Alternatively, this can be done in form of an interview or presentation where the wrestlers talk about their strengths or their opponent's weaknesses in comparison.
Wrestlers may choose to either roll Acting/Awareness or Perform: Oratory/Awareness for this segment. On success, the wrestler is given one Pop Point and one additional for each successful raise called.
Basic Talent: TN15
League Talent: TN17
Step Three: Punches, Kicks, and StrikesAt the start of the match, the wrestler must get down to fighting with their opponent. Punches, kicks and strikes are allowed in professional wrestler yet don't have as much effectiveness. However, they can still appear to be impressive in how hurtful they might look. The wrestler must be able to throw a strike that looks damaging to get a rise from the crowds.
Wrestlers must roll Jujitsu/Agility on their opponent. On success, the wrestler is given one Pop Point and on additional for each successful raise called.
Basic Talent: TN15
League Talent: TN17
Step Four: Wrastlin'As the match progresses and the wrestlers have softened up their opponent, they must get to performing some impressive wrestling moves to wow the crowds. Wrestling requires a feat of strength, especially in more complicated moves off the top rope, jumping and flipping or ones that slam their opponent by picking them up.
Wrestlers must roll Athletics/Strength on their opponent to achieve a move of their choosing. On success, the wrestler is given Two Pop Point and on additional for each successful raise called.
Basic Talent: TN15
League Talent: TN17
Step Five: Endurance and BumpsWhile the wrestling is scripted and choreographed, the physical dangers are real. Some moves can be pulled but the wrestlers do endure some punishment to their bodies. The challenge is also going through with the matches while maintaining the demanding pace to keep the excitement going, regardless if the wrestler is on the offensive or taking the bumps.
Wrestlers must make a raw Stamina roll at TN10. Dice do explode for this roll and the number of raises is limited by the wrestler's Void stat. On success, the wrestler is given one Pop Point and on additional for each successful raise called. If risks are taken and the wrestler misses their target number roll by 10 or more, a botch happens and the wrestler takes 3k1 damage. This damage is considered taken at the end of the match and the wound penalties will not affect any other rolls.
Optional Step: Villian MoveWrestlers may choose to purpose break the rules of a wrestler by doing a villain move. This may include a number of things such as striking their opponent with a weapon while the referee's back is turned, using the ropes/post to your advantage, showing cowardice or having someone run interference so that they could get the better of their opponent (just name a few). While this happens all the time in professional wrestling, it paints the wrestler is a villain and loses favour with the audience. However, this still entertains them differently as it rallies the audience to boo at the Villain.
Wrestlers may replace either Step Two, Three or Four with this optional step. The wrestler rolls Stealth/Agility at TN20 (all wrestlers). On success, they are rewarded one Pop Point and one for each successful raise called. This replacement is chosen before all rolls are made, so there are still only a total of 4 steps taken in this event.
OutcomeThe Wrestler who competes against Basic talent and accumulates the most Pop Points manages to impress the local audiences and earns them +0.2 Glory. They are considered a prospective talent and given further lessons in Wrestling, giving them either a point in Jujitsu if they don't have the skill yet or 1 xp to be only used toward further buying the skill or related emphasis.
The Wrestler who competes against League talent and accumulates the most Pop Points manages to get the most reaction for the crowds. They are crowned the first Asakaze Champion and bestowed an orange belt made with synthetic leather and decorated with gold plates. Their match is recorded and broadcast on the next episode of Rumble Slam Arena. This belt grants the champion +1k0 on all rolls done for entertainment purposes in a wrestling ring. The champion also gains +0.5 Glory.
The runner-up against League talent has their match also recorded and aired, awarding them +0.3 Glory
